TomTom XL Live IQ Routes edition Europe 42: Best money I've spent!
16 August 2013
Summary: Before getting my Tomtom, I'd have described myself as a nervous driver. Not nervous in that I didn't know what to do, or was scared, when on the roads, but I'd find myself getting nervous if I didn't know exactly where I was going. I'd planned to buy a satnav for some time, but had found myself put off by the cost. They aren't cheap, and for someone on quite a tight budget, I wandered if I'd use it enough to justify the cost.
TomTom XL Live IQ Routes edition Europe 42: Gets me there everytime!

Summary: I've just brought this Tomtom sat nav, I could not decide between tomtom or Garmin but everyone advised me tomtom was better so went and brought one! I'd never used a satnav before but find it very useful especially on my recent trip to devon! It is easy to set up, just plug it into your computer so it can upload any updates. To plan a route simply enter the postcode or search for the place on the map and click go!
Summary: I'll start by saying I was a late adopter of sat nav technology and if we were going on a day out somewhere unfamiliar I would simple use one of the Free online route finders to plan my journey. Most of the time this was ok, but if you take a wrong turn, are diverted or the instructions are wrong as they sometimes are, they you are well and truly goosed and left driving round in circles trying to get your bearings.
Summary: Thanks for all the advice and help on the amazon website. First thing I did was back eveything up from the Tom Tom to my PC, then customised the TomTom and installed all the updates.I installed each update one at a time to avoid any sort of software conflicts and hey presto, everything works superbly. No poblems at all. One nicely working TomTom and no problems.
TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition Europe 42: Tom-Tom - WOW love it.

Summary: What an amazing genius invention. I drove to Newport in Wales today to get a fast track passport, and I would never have got their if I hadn't borrowed my friends tom-tom sat nav. The tom-tom finds you the quickest routes to all destinations, it locates speed camera's, car parks and even service stations like Costa and McDonalds.
Summary: I am delighted with my purchase. The Tom Tom arrived as quickly as forecast and was in excellent condition. It is extremely easy to learn to use but one needs to become used to the directions e.g.Exit ahead confused me at first as I did not realize that it merely warned of an exit and not that I should take it for which there would be more warning and specific commands. Also keep right just means don't take that exit or turning. This price is very competitive.
Summary: we have had sat before but compared to Tom Tom it was for the most part a waste of time. This Tom Tom is brilliant clear maps great voice (choose your own) easy updates and so easy to use cant fault it.
Summary: In a month I visited 10 countries - Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Switzerland. Always took me there where I wanted, didn't matter if the street was small or big. Can't imagine how many times I could get lost without this toy... It got crazy only 2 times but after a few minutes found a good way. Never had bigger problems with this.
Summary: Great purchase, easy to set up,easy to use. Two small critiscisms: 1. The power connection to the unit is fiddly, especially if you've got big fingers! Snug and secure once fitted though. 2. The supplied suction pad connector which adheres to the windscreen will not stick to any dimpled dash surfaces, so if you have a deep upper dashboard the unit may be too far away.
