Summary: The spoken directions given by this GPS are sometimes very confusing. For example, "Ahead, stay left". You may think that means to get into the left lane. Not so. It simply means that an opportunity to go right (say, by taking an off-ramp) exists. This has caused me to miss exits or make unnecessary lane changes. Of course, I know better now. It is very very difficult to 'correct' a route from the one it selects.
Summary: I've had TOMTOM GPSs before and was looking forward to this one so I was a bit disappointed with these issues: The ETA (estimated time of arrival) is NOT accurate. I have tested this on LOOOONG stretches of highway. You'd think that if you were traveling the highway at the speed limit that the ETA would stay the same for long stretches. Nope. You'd think that if you're going above the speed limit (who... me???) that the ETA would go down over long stretches. NOPE.
Summary: This is the second TomTom I've had and I like them for the most part. It has features that have worked better for me over the Garmin, but I also like features on Garmins. I have owned a Garmin in the past. Its always easier to remember the things that bother you than what you really like. If you're using the voice directions, it has a tendency to say the opposite direction it wants you to turn.
Product froze when booting up, never worked, but TomTom will replace it.

Summary: dead on arrival. However, TomTom has promised to replace it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Update: September 25, I got a replacement from TomTom, but it didn't have the map and live traffic update capability. I am still waiting for the map update and they sent me the wrong "receiver" for the live traffic capability.
This item is just what my 10 year-old needed, He is smarter.

Summary: First let me say, I bought this item because It was cheeper than it would ccost to uddate my garmin that needed updating. I like tom-tom, but yesterday I bought another tom-tom, however it did not cost as much as the one I bought on e-bay, But when I want something I getit. Any 10 year old can operate this one. I know, I had to find one to do all this stuff, But it only takes a short time to get to his house when I need to add a address.
Summary: Bought this at a great price and found it easy to use right out of the box. With power cable attached traffic info is very helpful. Automatic software update when I first plugged it in was a bit slow but acceptable. Haven't needed a map update yet. Good large screen, easy to mount. Haven't really challenged it yet but it seems logical in defining routes. An excellent purchase.
