Lifetime Maps Update is a sham - only lifetime if the maps aren't too big...which they are.

Summary: This TomTom was amazing when I bought it. Yes, I paid for the 'Lifetime Traffic and Maps' edition.. only to find out they made the maps too big for the memory on this device. TOTALLY uncool! Seriously, lifetime is NOT a true statement as The device still works and 'is alive' and so am I..
Great features, love being able to set speed alerts.

Summary: Great features, love being able to set speed alerts. The alerts work off the posted speed limits for the streets. So if the posted limit is 45 you can set the unit to alert you if the car goes over 50.
Summary: Works ok except once in a while it shows on the screen to turn one way and the voice say to turn the other way. Have learned the voice should be ignored and always go the direction shown in the screen. This means you always need to check out what Tomette says to be sure she is telling the truth.
Summary: This TomTom XL340 lasted 1 month! It died on me while I was using it on the road, it wouldn't turned on, it just quit on me! When I sent it back for refund, because I forgot to include the instruction manual and the windshield suction piece, they deducted 20% of my refund, they could have offered...
Summary: Product worked great upon first receiving it, and after about 8 months the touch screen was inoperable. It appeared as though no matter where you touched the touch screen, it would not respond.
Summary: Would like to see ignition auto turn on brought back, but thinking older units (such as this) won't be given that feature. Only reason this isn't 5 star review.
Pros: Bought to use daily (and still do) on my commute to/from work. Lifetime maps are a great feature; definitely worth the few extra bucks. Highly customizable down to instructions how to add your own voice and images.
Cons: Doesn't switch on with vehicle ignition in on position- must be manually switched on every time. Does turn off with ignition off...thankfully. Software update from long ago apparently removed the GPS from starting up at ignition on, not sure the reasoning by TomTom for this...pretty annoying.
Summary: I would be lost (literally) without this GPS. It is always accurate on time and the traffic feature is a must. Even when I know how to get to my destination I still use the GPS just for the traffic information and possible re-routes it will give me. I wouldn't have any other GPS besides this one!
Summary: The good: 1. pretty good turn by turn directions 2. traffic reports are nice to have 3. knowing where construction is going to be is excellent The bad: 1. Takes forever to connect 2. more than 4 road intersections confuse this thing 3. traffic reports are scarce 4. POIs are extremely limited 5.
Summary: I am a limo driver and depend on this thing all day. I am very satisfied with it except for a few issues. The good: -Map graphics are great and shows direction of streets. In regards to information - I prefer the map format and image scheme/theme over Garmin any day.
