Summary: Tom Tom fails to impress with its ease of use and clear screen and directions. Wouldn't have anything else. Wide screen so easy to see and newer screen holder is much better. Mine came with a free unlimited map update which is why I bought it, wouldn't have swapped otherwise but upgrading each year is so expensive but essential if you want it to go what its designed for.
Summary: This was my second TomTom I love the device when it is working but it is less than useless when you get problems. My Drive the system used by TomTom to update the machine is awful. It takes forever for the device to be recognised and then when you update a map it takes over 3 hours whist the device and computer says 15 secs to go ........ This is not just me check out the Tom Tom Users page. My Drive is a joke.

Summary: Compared to my old Garmin sat nav, this is far better. The spoken instructions are clearer - 'Go straight on at the roundabout' is much more helpful than 'take the second exit'. I also find it less verbose when on the motorway, which I am grateful for, and the lane diagrams are excellent. It only got four stars because I found the speech recognition useless.
Summary: This is my second Tom Tom, and it works fine. I do not use any of the phone/voice functions so couldn't comment on those but as a bog standard sat nav few problems. The memory does eem rather full after onlt a couple of routine updates. However, the power button is awful! Often not working at all, and completely unreliable as to whether it will turn the device on or off. Had I had the time to send it back and complain I would have done. Seems to be a common failure.
Summary: I have never had a Sat Nav before and relied on directions from a map and various internet sites. On some journeys I did not want to take the motorway so more planning was needed. Purchasing this Sat Nav has given me peace of mind and less stress on a journey. It gives options of travelling on motorways and not travelling on motorways as well as speed cameras, emergency services, petrol stations, warns of speed limits and many many more functions.
Summary: Does what it says - only 3 stars due to the map and other software update process being so clumsy and painful. Also no linux support for updater - only for windows and mac! TomTom seemingly needs to make some investment in the IT side of things.
