Don't buy if you have a Mac, software is useless as is TomTom Support

Excerpt: Apparently TomTom only work with Intel Macs, which I have and it still won't open the software, so although the Satnav itself seems good, its not much use if you can't update the 'lifetime' maps.
Excerpt: I really do like tomtom sat navs and having had a tomtom go 720 for the last 5 years I was really impressed with the product, however it started to look a bit tired and the maps were getting a bit out of date, so I decided to treat myself with a new one. I use my sat nav on a daily basis.
Excerpt: BE CAREFULL WHEN BUYING TOM TOM PRODUCTS AT HALFORDS!.....Because refunds are not available, (exchange only). This is written on the reciept.......(after you've bought the product). Why did the manufacturer of this product decide to put the on/off button at the back of the unit?
Great on first use but not when plugged into computer! Pop!

Excerpt: Brought this for my son. It worked really well travelling to Sheffield and then all downhill from then on. He plugged it into the computer to carry out any updates and that was the end of his sat nav! We are now in the process of trying to get a replacement .
Summary: My Tom Tom was a disappointment. After charging it and putting in a couple of addresses I had to leave it for a couple of days and when I tried to restart it I couldn't, it seems dead. It came with no instructions, I read up on various web sites and don't appear to have done anything wrong.
Excerpt: I have had a number of Tomtoms in the past and they have always been excellent. Software update on this one failed time after time. I used three different ids on two laptops and it failed every time. I gave up in the end.
Summary: Replacing my Garmin I chose this Tom Tom on the basis of all the reviews. Out of the box it seemed simple enough to set-up (even though the set-up leaflet is in the form of pictures with fingers pointing at things). I tried it out for about a week and all seemed OK so I was quite pleased.
Summary: Started out great and it's certainly an improvement over the older TomTom One device I had but.... The screen certainly isn't up to modern smart phone standards and seems to have a resistive screen instead of the newer capacitive types.
Summary: No problem at all with the SatNav itself, but would definitely not purchase a Tom Tom again. Have been trying to update maps for ten months (it keeps telling me my maps are out of date and need updating). Just wish it would tell me how to do it.
