Summary: I purchased the Tomtom Via 1400 while in language school in France. It served us well in a car trip through northern Italy. On returning to the USA I purchased a North American map set on the Tomtom website to use for the 10-weeks we would be here before heading to our mission in Burkina Faso west Africa. All of their tech support could not free up space by removing the Europe map in order to load the NA map.
Summary: Initially the sat nav was great, got me to my destination, graphics great, sound instructions and clear directions. Unfortunately the way back wasn't quite so smooth. The sat nav constantly flicked through all the menus for the duration of the 2hr journey so I had no visual guide. When I looked closely at the screen it had a small scratch on it which I think maybe the problem.
Summary: I bought this for a 4 hour trip and was pleased at first, although the set up too a while. It seemed to work for about 30 mins into the journey and then the screen went faulty and didn't work. We had to go the rest of the journey just listening to the voice. This made the journey much worse. The screen seemed to have a fault and Argos did take it back straight away but i have lost some faith in tom tom products, however this may have just been a glitch.
Summary: Didn't set it up, it arrived in a shabby box all bashed. The outer wrapping was fine.Everything was loose in the box, screen had no protecter and not in a bag . The acesseries were also loose. Looked second hand. The product may have been ok but put off by the state of it. Ordered the same sat nav from a different supplier.
Summary: I really regret buying this Sat Nav. 1. It constantly looses GPS signal and can't find it for ages and it happens even in open field in good weather. It has spoiled my every single weekend ride out so far. And yes - I've been installing GPS fix updates. 2. It is unbelievably slow, feels like 2005 device not like a modern 2013 Sat Nav 3. Bearing in mind points 1 and 2 it's very expensive, totally not worth the money. 4.
Summary: this is the second tomtom I buy and used a handful of times before it either stops picking up the satelites or packs up altogether not to mention that it's really slow to start up. i've just had this one replaced after only 6 months and only used about 10 times and if the new one packs up again i'll be telling tomtom they can stick their GPS in a place even they won't be able to locate
Summary: AVIOD !!!! A WASTE OF £119.00 I bought the Start20 for my daughter in Aug 2011. All was working fine. It had rarely been used when TomTom emailed me numerous times (as they do) to download their latest updates from they`re website. Whilst downloading the latest updates as recommended by TomTom via they`re website (who insist on regularly updating the device) the device froze, and showed the dreaded well documented common fault of a red X and a gear cog logo on its...
