Summary: I purchased the Rider Pro a couple of years ago, and apart from an initial problem with the headset I have been delighted with it. But my real reason for writing this review concerns the TomTom customer help line. I have read some damning reports, so feel I must redress the balance with my own experience.
Summary: With a 5,000 mile trip across Europe to Turkey coming up, I decided to buy the new TomTom rider with extended European coverage, as my old TomTom Rider was playing up. When it arrived, I quickly realized the Scala headset unit wasn't working, wouldn't take a charge and wouldn't switch on, so I returned it to Amazon and,running out of time, ordered another one.
Summary: I brought the Pro kit, used the Sat Nav to go to the Manx TT, couldnt use the Headset as it wouldnt charge, Sat Nav worked well, charge lasted 5 hours so made it to the camp site, The Ram mount works well, no issues with the actual unit and mount, TOM TOM should include the active mount in this kit, screen is clear and not issues in daylight, I have returned the unit now for a refund as I think I will buy the cheaper Rider 2 for £220 and add a better headset, 3 stars due...
Summary: Total garbage. Went against my better judgement of getting a Garmin which never lets me down to trying a Tom Tom Urban Rider. It took only took 2 days to get here which was great. After that it all went down hill from there. 1) Open up the pack and the ram mount is really only good for a side mirror mount or a thin handlebar. Had to order a Telferizer stem mount at 28 pounds 2) The supplied mount is a non-charging mount.
Summary: What a great piece of kit, does what it says on the box, very easy to fit to my Harley,, Scala Rider works perfect with it, radio can be a bit dodgy depending where you are, A single note of coercion, the charger for the Scala Rider is tight, don't use to much force, but apart from that, works very well, I would recommend it, especially for Harley Davidsons, plenty of room on the bars and doesn't interfere with the quick release screen,, Harry Hardacre,, Manchester,,
Summary: Any one thinking about by a Tom-Tom don't there after sales service is a joke! They lost the Tom-Tom rider i sent back found it at last but told me it will take an additional 10 days to repair the bottom door latch they throw up every obstacle for you NOT claim on warranty with a local rate 0845 number which cost a fortune because of length of time it takes to answer.
Summary: I bought this after doing research believing that the Scala headset would work by manually plugging in the the MP3 to the speak jack as advertised on manufacturers website. It doesn't work, nothing has been put in the hole that has been left there, which leaves it open to water, and frustratingly not bale to use it to listen to music with. I contacted Scala - not their problem, not able to help - unless you want to spend a lot more money.
Summary: What a piece of kit , we did 3800 miles in ten days , France, Andorra,Spain,Italy and Switzerland,found all the Hotels we booked ,even the ones off the beaten track, PERFECT........ Nothing else to say !!!!!!!!!!
Summary: I've only just received this so haven't had chance to test it out but before you buy, be aware that this cannot be charged while riding unless you purchase additional products. The holder supplied is exactly that and no more although there is a chargeable version available from Tomtom for £45 (others are available but appear to be even more expensive).
