  • Summary: I paid a lot of money for this unit (over $600) and it worked fine until TomTom had me update the firmware. The firmware update erased all maps and would no longer download the new maps. I called TomTom -- they wouldn't fix it, even though it was their firmware update which screwed up my unit.

  • Summary: my tom-tom rider 2nd edition, is now just over 2 years old. it worked ok while it worked, not the best buy not the worst, that being said, I highly recommend not buying a tom-tom.... They have a strict one year warranty,when that runs out you are S.O.L.

  • Summary: Illegible in daylight. Gave it away to a friend who subsequently threw it in the garbage. Replaced it with a Garmin Zumo, which works fine. It is inconceivable to me that this is the second version of this product and they never addressed a trivial issue like illegibility in daylight.

  • Summary: The Tomtom Rider 2 is a good motorcycle & general use GPS device. My problem is poor customer service from Tomtom. My Rider 2 unit crashed during a map upgrade download. It worked fine until then. Tomtom support won`t do anything to help me.

  • Summary: I got 2 Tomtom: Rider and Rider 2. The 1st one , I had a problem with the cradle (no electricity to charge the gps) on my bike but it was impossible to replace it because it wasn't available any more. I got another Tomtom, the Rider 2.

It doesn't matter how good it works if the company won't make replacement parts

  • Summary: I purchased this unit along with a three year extended warranty. About a year after purchasing, the hardwired mount stopped charging the unit. I could still charge it with the home charger but not on the bike.

no replacement parts

  • Summary: The GPS works fine. I have been using it for over a year with no problems. The cradle, however is the weak link. Through searching the internet I have found many people with the same problem.
