Summary: my tom-tom rider 2nd edition, is now just over 2 years old. it worked ok while it worked, not the best buy not the worst, that being said, I highly recommend not buying a tom-tom.... They have a strict one year warranty, when that runs out you are S.O.L. and they have discontinued service and support on the rider2nd edition.
Summary: Illegible in daylight. Gave it away to a friend who subsequently threw it in the garbage. Replaced it with a Garmin Zumo, which works fine. It is inconceivable to me that this is the second version of this product and they never addressed a trivial issue like illegibility in daylight. This product is not suitable for motorcycles.
Summary: this gps has been one tough customer i have dropped it a number of times by accident and it still works. it has got me everywhere i have wanted to go and it ties my iphone to my bluetooth helmet nicely. it gives me a sense of safety knowing that my parents can get in touch with me anytime i am riding. which is most of the time. my motorcycle is my primary transport and i get into a lot of out of the way places. this unit has not failed one time.
Summary: I have a couple of Garmin car style gps units but I decided to try this TomTom Rider because it was half the price of a Garmin waterproof unit. I am unimpressed. I use a Scala Rider G4 headset with it and turning the volume up all the way on both I can barely hear the instructions and I tried several of the voice options. The directions are ok but it just says turn right, no street names.

Summary: Every year I waste 2 days talking with Tom Tom trying to get this device working or updated. Tom Tom support make it as difficult as possible to contact them. If eventually find the phone number, to use the phone to contact them, the number they provide is the equivalent of a long distance call - expensive and they do not answer your call for hours. If you use email to contact them it takes 48hours to get an answer and about I month to get to the bottom of the problem.
