my first motorcycle gps

ed, Amazon
2 May 2013
  • Summary: this gps has been one tough customer i have dropped it a number of times by accident and it still works. it has got me everywhere i have wanted to go and it ties my iphone to my bluetooth helmet nicely. it gives me a sense of safety knowing that my parents can get in touch with me anytime i am riding. which is most of the time. my motorcycle is my primary transport and i get into a lot of out of the way places. this unit has not failed one time.

Not nearly what I expected for the money.

7 April 2013
  • Summary: I have a couple of Garmin car style gps units but I decided to try this TomTom Rider because it was half the price of a Garmin waterproof unit. I am unimpressed. I use a Scala Rider G4 headset with it and turning the volume up all the way on both I can barely hear the instructions and I tried several of the voice options. The directions are ok but it just says turn right, no street names.

  • Summary: I just didn't get the maps loaded without having to spend money, so for me, not a success. But I love the TomTom user-interface, the sceneries and images are lovable, and the menus are smart

Good value

  • Summary: 2nd version is better than the first. Lacks a speaker, but that can be rectified relatively inexpensively with a bluetooth to headset converter.

It doesn't matter how good it works if the company won't make replacement parts

Amazon Customer, Amazon
9 June 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this unit along with a three year extended warranty. About a year after purchasing, the hardwired mount stopped charging the unit. I could still charge it with the home charger but not on the bike. When I tried to buy a replacement mount I found they no longer support this item in the USA nor do they manufacture the part. I wrote letters with no responce from Tom Tom. The GPS stopped working (unrelated to charger) and I sent it in to the warranty company.
