Summary: This unit has never worked properly. TomTom has not been very helpful the multitude of times that I have called about it. It shuts off by itself, and I have to carry a paperclip around with me for constant resetting. the screen is almost impossible to read in the direct sunlight.
Works great... just dont connect it to your computer.

Summary: I have done a lot of research on GPS devices and TomTom One appeared to have more bang for the buck out of the box. And it does. You turn it on, configure it, type in the addresses and it works... up until you decide to install TomTom Home and connect TomTom to the computer. TomTom asks if you want to connect it to the computer and you say yes. Then you turn on TomTom Home and it states there are no devices connected.
good product - fatal software upgrade - very, very poor "service"

Summary: Initially my Tomtom One was excellent. Then I made the fatal mistake of allowing Tomtom Home to automatically upgrade the software. The device never worked again because it could no longer find any satellites! (My computer has the maximum security offered by Windows XP and Norton Internet Security so it seems unlikely that the process was contaminated in any way.) On 11 Feb - I contacted Customer Service - nice courteous responses but no solution.
Summary: I had a TomTom One for LESS than 45 minutes when it stopped working. I phoned their tech. After several hours on the phone with them they admitted many of the systems are flawed and basically the unit I had was fried. They suggested I return it where I purchased it, they do not take their product back directly. I contacted the online store where it was purchased. They said it needed to go back to the manufacturer.
Summary: We purchased this GPS to use for our move across the country. The first one we purchased worked for about 2 days then simply would not turn on. After following the troubleshooting guide, it still would not turn on so we exchanged it for another of the same. This one worked for about 2 weeks and ended up doing the same thing. We exchanged it for a Garmin and are much happier. I agree with the other reviewers who stated that the maps are out of date. To say the least!
Summary: Works straight out of the box and into the car BUT MAJOR PROBLEMS encountered when linking to the computor via tomtom home for the recommended map updates. Painfully slow downloads which terminate in installation errors towards the end of a 3 hour period. 1st machine ended up totally locked up and unusable. Currently trying to update a replacement, finding exactly the same problems and outcomes as the 1st.
Summary: Beware when you buy this that Tom Tom have the least customer friendly after sales care ever. They have a no refund policy on downloads, even when it's their mistake, and also have the right to withdraw services without notice if you enter into disagreement with them. We now have a Sat Nav which is totally useless, and we still haven't had our refund, despite the fact that the download hasn't actually been supplied, and evne if it was, we've nowhere to put it.
