Summary: The product was purchased due to the price. Overall the product is worth the risk. Easy to manage maps and lots of features. However when it comes to rerouting it shuts off and by the time you can get back on track it is frozen and shuts off again. very dissatisfied with the product.
Summary: bought it used without directions. Downloaded them on-line. I had a garmin before and it was much easier to use. Might be me but it has taken me to areas in some locations miles away from where I was going. I do better with a map and simple looking it up.
Summary: We got a Tomtom XL for Christmas. It was fine for a couple of months, and then we started having trouble with the "Easyport" windshield mount not sticking -- and still have this problem. It might stick once out of a dozen tries, even though it worked OK for the first couple of months. The mount is also very awkward to use -- it has a large stiff knob that has to be turned while holding the mount on the windshield.
Summary: ALTHOUGH IT WORKS WELL IT TURNS IT SELF ON BY ITSELF, NOT ME. THIS IS WHAT DRAINS THE BATTERY. AFTER MANY RESETS AND FIXES WITH NO SUCCESS I WILL JUNK IT.I WOULD NOT SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. BECAUSE IT WORKS WELL WHEN CHARGED I COULD NOT GIVE IT NO STARS. BOUGHT A GARMIN.
Pros: It works untill I update, then it ruins my life.
Cons: purchased map updates and updates ALWAYS destroys my saved addresses and puts me in Guam. Backup does not work, as well as Restore. It take about 6 hours to fix everything, then the next map update wipes my addresses and puts me back in Guam.
Summary: I originally owned a magellan maestro which was stolen, so purchased a cheapo, which did the job, but I missed the bluetooth handsfree option on the magellan. I decided to try something different, and heard good things about tomtom, so I purchased a one xl. I realize that sometimes you might get a lemon, but it just seems that there was not much thought into being driver friendly, for example.
Summary: Bought the TomTom One XL for over a year and half. Used it for trips in Midwest and Northeast regions and it performed OK. At least it would take you to destinations, although it sometimes took us through residential areas instead of main roads etc. The good thing about it is the route-recalc speed, which is pretty fast. However, it performed quite poorly during my recent trip to the UK.
