Summary: 1. The internal memory on this unit is 1 GB. Though that fact in and of itself wouldn't have made me pause at purchasing this device, the following situation would have: I went to download an updated map using the "latest map guarantee," and it told me there was not enough room on my device for the...
Summary: This was my 1st attempt at purchasing a portable GPS unit for my car. I paid extra for next day delivery, another mistake. The unit arrived on time, but problems began when I started the set up procedure. Instruction booklet reads that the unit may be behind in map updates.
Summary: I've just received the XL-S and haven't had time yet to use but I am sure I will like it based on specs. However, I bought it "New" from Amazon to make sure that I could download the latest map update for free (refurb devices don't provide for that).
Summary: Comments about TomTom ONE XL-S Automobile Navigator: While on a tour one truck had this, the other didn't. While mostly good, it made enough mistakes for it to earn the nickname Dum Dum. For example the time it said I was at a restaurant when I was parked in front of an empty field.
Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Improves Experience
Summary: We purchased TomTom XLS 08/02/08 for a trip to Canada. Many time the GPS did not know where we were. Just yesterday I was going to see a family member in Indianapolis. She lived at the same address for about 3 years but street not in GPS.
Summary: Though the TomTom One XL-S is easy to use, the POI database is just awful. According to the data, my city has no Barnes & Noble, Sears, Payless shoe source, Toys R Us, Lowes, Zoo, Aquarium, Cultural Center, Mall or grocery stores.
A very annoying piece of equipment with many many problems

Summary: I bought the TomTom One XL-S for the larger screen and text to speech capabilities. I first tested a Garmin 260 text to speech model, but the screen was too small to see at windshield level. I was very surprised at the ease of use of the Garmin and the problems with the TomTom.
