Summary: i prefer the tomtom over many other gps units, because it has 3 separate 'speed alerts', once tells you if you're going over the speed limit (that you need to set the first time your on a road), the second tells u if you're going over a 'set speed', and the third 'dims the display' when over another set speed... AWESOME!!! haven't got a speeding ticket since... the v4 is smaller and more compact, and requires different mounting brackets than the v3...
Summary: I think the tom tom 1 V4 is a very good unit, it does the job and is not hard at all to figure out. It does'nt have all the bells and whistles that your more expensive models have but for know more than I use it for like finding jobsites finding out of town places points of interest and the sporting events for the kids its perfect for our family if anything ever happens to it I would get another one just like it.
Summary: Bought this a few weeks ago now and it's a great product. The map update worked well online, as does the whole online interface for making updates to the tomtom. Traffic function is completely useless. Struggles to get any signal for most of the time, and when it does it's generally not useful (told me about a traffic jam which didnt exist). Dont mind about this as at the time I bought it the traffic function didnt cost any extra.
Summary: The first Sat/nav received worked well. However when connected to my Computor to download various programmes there was a problem which resulted in everything being "wiped". A replacement Sat/nav was promptly sent by Amazon and this time I encountered no problems.
Summary: We've now owned the TomTom for a couple of months, it's got us out of a couple of sticky situations - and also tried to get us into a couple too! I'll go into more detail about the pros and cons below. I should also mention that ours is the Traffic 31 which we bought from a well known UK high street retailer on a better-than-Amazon deal at the time. First though, a quick response to the earlier one star reviews.
