Summary: bought as a first satnav. I wanted somthing easy to use with easy to follow information and this fits the bill. it can be a bit odd on motorways, not always telling me the lane as it should, but the on screen map is clear and if you make a mistake the replanning is fast to keep you on target. All the extras are there too, speed camera warnings, reminders of speed limits, excess speed warnings, locations of petrol stations, cash machines, etc etc.
Excerpt: Having used TomTom One V2 this is a huge improvement in terms of GPS guidance and overall design of the gadget. This version has the additional feature of IQ routes. What that means is it'll calculate the shortest routes, taking into account of the "short cuts" based on historical data depending on the time of day and day of the week. The supposed result is a shorter journey time. BUT, this isn't always the case.
Summary: Took a while to get working. On the first couple of tries it couldn't seem to figure out where it was (the North East is a bit tricky!) Once it settled down it was fine. Quite different to our old Tomtom but really good & easy to follow once you use it a few times. It was a gift for our 19 year old & he loves it.
Summary: So far we had it only for about a month and are generally happy with it. There were few minor mistakes with the mapping: our home street is not on there (though it is already two years old), sometimes it advised to turn into a one way system street which was a wrong direction, few small roundabouts are missing, sometimes it would say: 'Turn left', but it is just the left bend of the main road, so no action to be taken..
Summary: I've used various satnav syatems, including a slightly larger TomTom owned by my ex partner. I found this version to be more than adequate for any journey, without the extra hassle of bothering with active traffic management (which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot). The screen's a little small, but i find it much easier to fit into things such as pockets. Also, the battery life is not so impressive, but it comes with a cable to attach it to your car charger.
Summary: I think this is a very good sat nav system for the money. It is compact but very easy to use. I have looked at others but I would have to say for this price range this is the best I have used. I would recommend this to anyone, however some people may find the screen a little small. If that's you then I would go for the slightly more expensive XL version which has a bigger screen. Having said that I found the screen size ok.
Summary: Glad i purchased the IQ Routes version. Found the Lane Assistance helpful when approaching motorway junctions. Voice instruction is extremely loud and clear and it quickly re-calculates the route if you make a mistake. I like the amount of information displayed on the main screen in comparison to other brands!
