TomTom ONE 3rd Edition GPS unit is very simple to use and affordable.

Summary: I have used GPS's before but have never owned one. I recently purchased a TomTom One 3rd Edition. The unit is very easy to use and has all the bells and whistles that one might find essential and lacks other options that are, well, "optional". The speaker is very loud at it's maximum setting and does a great job telling you which lane you need to be in (volume is adjustable).

Summary: Overview With the advent of faux-GPS available on Smart Phones today, many people, including myself, believed the stand-alone GPS device to be obsolete. Nothing could be further from the truth. I discovered that when I travel overseas and don't wish to incur mammoth data charges, clumsy map books from a "petrol garage", or ask directions in a language I don't speak, I have relied on my TomTom One GPS to bail me out and help me navigate unknown towns and cities.
Summary: One year review: It's incredibly easy to use, reliable, and has saved me tons of time (especially when avoiding traffic, construction, or driving in new cities). Very intuitive OS - you'll quickly get the hang of it. When fully charged, battery life is very good. It's small enough to throw in your backpack/purse without noticing its there. Compared to the higher-priced Garmin Nuvi that my parents own, I much prefer my TomTom.
Summary: This TomTom One saved me numerous times when I went to downtown Baltimore, and Washington D.C...though it does have a hard time to determine which way is the quickest route around the city, but it does take you to the destination.
Summary: Tom Tom One 3rd Edition is a nice small unit. I used it on my way to work after I received it,( just to see how it works), and the directions it gave me were ok, not the fastest route though. It does recalculate your route if you go a different way then the unit shows which is a great feature if you are driving somewhere new to you. The volume is a bit too low and the screen is easy to see/read. Over all not a bad device.
Summary: I bought the TomTom One 3rd Edition a little over 2 years ago. It was the 2nd gps unit I had ever used (1st was verizon's VZ Navigator). 1st impression of this unit was awesome and it took awhile before finding little faults with it... It doesn't say street names. I guess I assumed all gps units had text to speech. Not that big of a deal since the display shows the street names, and it does announce the distance to your turns.
