Summary: My first GPS was the Tomtom 130, very similar to this 140-S. When that 130 quit working, I wanted to get another one similar to it for several reasons. First, I liked the size. The larger screens may be nice, but this 3.5 inch always worked for me. Like the compact form.
Summary: I bought a Tomtom GPS a few years ago...the newest model, was around $500...and this small and compact model is by far a better investment at a fraction of the cost. I read about it in Consumer Reports and thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did too.
Summary: I will admit that this is the first one that I've owned one (I dabbled with another brand, but I found it confusing), so maybe there is better out there, but my overall summary is that it's a very good GPS without the bells and whistles.
Summary: Works well as expected (we owned a TomTom previously). Text to speech has funny pronunciation sometimes, but it's nice to have this feature in a navigator of this price. PC (or Mac) software allows easy update and backup of the navigator.
