Excerpt: The TomTom GO is the way to go. This compact dash-top unit has a wonderful interface (touch screen, no keys), few submenus, superb maps (the underlying data comes from Tele Atlas, the underdog to market leader Navteq), and even decent sound quality from the spoken directions. And you can unplug the unit from your car and use it as a walk-around navigation system for over 5 hours; at 3.6 by 4.5 by 2.3 inches and 0.7 pounds, it's bigger than the Pharos EZ Road but still...
Conclusion: The designers of this unit clearly thought out much of the operation so that the average consumer has to do very little set up and is able to easily use it. It would, however, be somewhat of a disappointment to a "techie" person as it is lacking features such as the ability to tell it to route either faster or shorter and navigate to a longitude/latitude.
Pros: Point of interest data incomplete, Lacking certain functionality such as shortest/fastest routing and ability to navigate by longitude/latitude, No ability to view maps or create routes on the PC
Cons: Excellent audio and video quality, Simple to operate, Multiple map region choices
Conclusion: After a few years of riding on the laurels of GO 1000 LIVE and its derivatives, TomTom has delivered another ground-breaking sat-nav. If you have £200 or so to spend on decent sat nav, spend your money here.
Pros: Lifetime TomTom traffic, Lifetime European map updates, Redesigned menu interface
Cons: Traffic updates require smartphone tethering, LIVE services only include traffic and speed camera updates
