Summary: I bought this device just over two years ago. Within the first few months it gave up on me during a journey, and I spent several hours trying to find where I was. My wife thought I'd had an accident! The bug was subsequently fixed online. Since then, it has worked reasonably well. Sadly, I've recently tried to update (at wasted cost), and have been unable to do so, despite telephone advice from customer support.
Summary: I have this tomtom 825, this is my nd tm tom, my 5th satnav/gps, I livein Victoria and I am really p' off with the fact that this gps seems to think that all roads to anywhere must start with victoria's greatest stuff up, the ringroad. I am halfway to Geelong and if I want to go north ie Sydney, Bendigo or any other northerly destination it insists going to the ringroad.
Summary: i had a chance to use an 825 and 1005 v2 side by side. While the software is identical the units arent. bracket: 825 has integrated bracket and is a pain to remove and fit each time, 1005 v2 has magnetic mount making removal a breeze. screen: 825 has obvious screen lag which the 1005 doesnt and makes for a much nicer experience. It must be said that both units have something of an internal lag due to hardware constraints (cpu, memory).
Summary: Bought to replace a Go 720T. Live traffic works well, but I think TomTom launched these too soon. Online updates take much longer than with the earlier model, and MyTomTom does not seem to be bug free and can be confusing. Use of "Community Services" has not been sorted and I have been unable to add POI's which I had added to the previous model. Works well in use but a pity the bugs were not sorted before launch. Has a micro SD card slot, but no way of using it!
Summary: I had read many reviews of the 82x and 100x TomToms containing a lot of complaints, so when I took the risk and bought one I was relieved to find that most problems seem to have been overcome. Updating maps, speed cameras and live traffic info work OK, and the integrated mount works well. The screen is clearer and the instructions better than my old "One". What doesn't work? Well the MyTomTom software used for updating is pretty poor e.g.
Summary: Have had this for a few weeks now so thought I would share my experiences with others. Firstly, as to the device itself, it is absolutely brilliant. So far it has worked flawlessly, selecting routes quickly and informing me of any delays on the journey, which have all been very accurate. My only slight niggle is the volume of incoming phone calls via the bluetooth, which is too quiet and I haven't figured out how to increase it yet, any suggestions gratefully received.
Opstarten duurt eindeloos; minuut of 5. Wees gewaarschuwd.
