Summary: Not happy with product - returned shortly after buying as wasnt working properly. Returned to me,but not working again - No live . Have rung several times over the last few months, tried all the things they told me to do but still not working, left hanging on for half an hour the last time said they would ring me back - however no call. As I am a driver and travel all over Europe I am having to use without the Live working.
Summary: Tomtom 1000 review It's been a while since I used a Tomtom device. However I have just begun a new driving job and so I bought this device. I bought the Tomtom one about 5 years ago and so I thought the technology must have moved on leaps and bounds; however I was quite disappointed. Great hype about IQ routes and recalculating alternative routes. However this device is over sold.
Summary: Before buying this product I thought I had covered all the angles - I read many professional reviews online and checked out its spec but sadly I missed the all-important customer reviews! This device boasts top of the line spec and appears to be ahead of the competition in terms of what the gadgetry offers; however what neither TomTom nor any other professional reviews tell you is that the device operates under Linux. Yes Linux, not Windows.
Summary: I have now owned one of these for over 6 months. I'm fairly disappointed. Main problems ... Device - Slow getting a GPS lock Loses its GPS lock too easily when surrounded by tall buildings and the software doesn't deal with it well. It seems quite happy to assume you have just teleported through 200meters of buildings rather than continuing on the road you were always on It just seems more glitchy that other sat navs.
Summary: Granted, it's a good satnav, but TomTom's always have been. OK screen, intuitive controls, great mounting. BUT... the interface to Mac is not just woeful, it is non-existent. That means no map updates and no Speed Camera updates - which means your camera warning database is going to be 6 months old from the off. And they have fooled you - the only LIVE update for cameras via Road Angel is for mobile cameras - not for fixed cameras.
Summary: Woo – a beautiful product and solid build quality like my BMW 5 series. Functionality is a vast improvement over my old TomTom 910 Go. Unfortunately, TomTom BV has disabled a lot of features until they sort out the software and map updates are not available. They say wait six months and everything will be alright. Five star potential becomes 2.5 stars in reality.
Pros: Build quality, graphics, functionality
Cons: TomTom software is not ready and no map updates results in a lot of functionality being disabled
Summary: Still requires updates to produce functionality available on 910 However, the interface has improved a bit. And the traffic is better displayed. I would not have upgraded if my previous TomTom 910 hadn't died. New browser based access from PC is far worse than the old TomTom Home. In fact it is non existent. To my surprise there are several features that do not work yet on the Go Live 1000 When you finally get it to work the browser proudly tells you !
