Summary: I'm surprised to be invited to review this as I returned it! It didn't connect positively to my TomTom Go6000, I had to hold it in place. More importantly, it didn't make a data connection. It only charged the TomTom, which was not the point. It seems that the data connection can only be made by the other, smaller, connector socket. I bought a suitable alternative cable (USB Micro Data Cable) for £1.99!

Summary: this does not connect properly as it has no side pins to go into the Tomtom..perhaps newer versions have little magnets but you hae to sit and hold the cable in to use which is impossible when driving.
Summary: Why not buy a poundland micro usb cable for the car? save the superfango overpriced tomtom lead for the computer updating. Yes it does work. Why do tomtom make a usb lead that is different for updating? Oh yeah, to make 1200% profit on a bloody usb lead.
Summary: When I started using this I was quite impressed about how to good it was. But my joy was short lived as the device turned out to be unreliable. The biggest problem is that the display freezes in the middle of the journey. Often in the middle of a round about or on spaghetti junction. This defeats the purpose of a satnav as one gets lost more often. The other problem is slow update of the position on the map.
Summary: I bought this item in May 2012. After a year I discovered that what I thought were free lifetime maps and live updates would cost me £75 a year to upgrade.. after another three months the gps no longer held a charge whilst unplugged and now continuously switches itself off after only a minute whilst plugged in. For £180 I am extremely disappointed in what I have got for my money - and will not go back to TomTom.
Works ok as a satnav. Update required every week, it just loops and takes hours to download less than 1mb of data

Summary: Looking at the forums this is obviously a known issue without seemingly being an issue to Tom Tom. Choose a different brand to avoid hours of wasted time. Update 13/2/14 - The problem is Mapshare, Tom Tom customer service (the worst people I have ever dealt with) eventually came up with a fix - they fooled me into turning it off so the feature is disabled.
Summary: I wouldn't purchase this product again. I was advised by Tom Tom that there was a problem with a batch and the replacement I was given still didn't work properly. Now have a Tom Tom Go Live 1005 World which is great.
Summary: I returned a unit that had been used, damaged and had the wrong connectors. They replaced the unit in a sealed box, however the unit in the box was not the unit advertised on the outside of the box it was UK and Ireland sat nav not a European sat nav. It was not a new unit and had obviously been used as it had a history on the routes travelled. To receive a second hand unit twice can not be an admin error there has been a concerted effort to deceive in this case.
Summary: I have been using this extensively for over 12 months on my M4 commute and travelling around the UK. Have always used TomTom devices but boy they lost their way with this one, their most expensive item. First issue was the well know battery problem, TomTom support is terrible and it took months for them to replace with a refurb item; I spent months dealing with a battery that failed to hold charge or even work connected to power.
