Summary: This a superb unit well built good large display. The display is touchscreen but a resistive rather than capacitive screen - well up to the job but does need a solid ' poke ' sometimes. Maps are good voice clear and picks up satellites quickly manily due to the fact you can update satellite locations using the online interface so it has updated satellite positions in advance helping it to lock on. A good window mount for it and all in all very pleased.
Summary: I bought this item for my boyfriend - so he went and booked a fly-drive to the USA. Never did the Tom Tom let us down, lead us astray or dump us in any ponds! It was easy to follow from both the visual and audio prompts (although the other half sometimes got confused by the super-early prompts that a turn was coming up - looking at the screen clarified issues). I would recommend this product if you're planning on driving over there.
Summary: The Tomtom 950 is a great GPS. The built in GPS in my Merc has broken down; it has trouble receiving satellite signals. My choice was to get it fixed by MB and the cost would be astronomical or to get a portable GPS. But some MB cars, of which mine is one, have athermic windscreens which reflect radio signals. I had tried to use my tomtom go 700 and it could not receive enough radio signals.
Summary: Brilliant, updated maps ongoing with mapshare, Live services very good especially if you travel a lot. Have used it in europe/USA and UK and has never let me down. If you need USA maps then buy this ....well made with quality finish. One minus TomTom made it so difficult to get the introductory discount on the case I bought an OEM case.
Summary: Well I think the time is right for a new review on the TomTom 950. I have owned the device since it's introduction. I use the device on a daily basis,my work involves travel in town and country area's. I can assure you that when in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors, at night, in a snow storm and no mobile phone coverage this sat nav has done it's stuff. Regarding the features, others have commented on these, I have had no real problems at all.
Summary: I agree that the interface is a little slow and could do with a little of the 'Apple' magic but it does do the job. The traffic information is just fantastic and it will detect delays ahead and offer to re-plan your route, this has saved me from spending ages sitting on the motorway in a jam many times over. It will also, if you want, find which garage has the cheapest fuel either locally or on route and offer to plan this for you as well.
