Summary: I chose to buy this product because I needed a good, efficient GPRS navigator with US and European maps. When I used this product in the UK, it was quite impressive but once I updated the US map, it seems like the program slow down a bit. Sometimes when we were driving in the US, it would just switch off by itself and we would have to switch it back on again. We did a cross country trip and sometimes we would drive up to 4 hours a day.
Summary: I bought this unit for three feature just before taking a holiday, 1. Navigation 2. The FM transmitter and jukebox feature for music as I have no other means of playing MP3s in the car 3. Bluetooth hands free feature as I don't have that. In short, the software is very buggy for anything other than basic navigation, and the Live services cost too much for what they provide. I wish I'd bought a cheaper unit as the extra features don't seem to work properly.
Summary: I have had this item for 6 months and was generally please with it. But I have just returned it for a refund as it no longer loads the map updates. The item came preloaded with the European and North American maps. I have been paying for the monthly map updates. Unfortunately, last months 2 maps did not fit onto the 4Gb internal memory supplied on the device. I contacted TomTom who initially advised me to buy a memory card.
Summary: The tom tom routes are very good and the time of arrival is very good too, BUT after entering a full postcode, street name and house number are needed, considering lots of addresses do not have house numbers, it requires any number from the whole street not a number within the postcode, after using it for 3 months.
Summary: As with a previous comment made in a review, this Tom Tom has a major screen problem in sunlight!! It's totaly useless. The screen it's self is great but it's the contast that causes the problem with reflection. If you were to compare to earlier models, you will note the defention and contrast was good but I don't know why they have change this.
Navigation is great but making handsfree calls a nightmare with my Sony Ericsson!

Summary: I had a Tomtom go 720T before and it was great apart from voice breaking when navigates. When this 940 came with new features, I thought I must treat myself with one although it's not cheap. I was really disappointed with few things but not with voice breaking. Firsty, my Tomtom is currently under repair due to handsfree calling via bluetooth is impossible after 2-3 days of installing new updates.
Summary: Whilst the 940 seems a perfectly good satellite navigation device, and the traffic reports are definitely very useful, I have been really disappointed with the mp3 player. Via the unit's loud speakers, it produces insufficient volume to be heard in a moving car, the point surely, and via the transmitter to the car radio, Well... it is quite simply useless because one cant find a bit of waveband that is not clogged with static. Or rather I can't find it.
Summary: Only had this a day or so, but all seems to be working fine, and certainly not experienced the problems some reviewers are having. I am a relatively high mileage user (40k + per year) most f these miles are on the M62, if any one knows these roads you need all the help you can get to avoid traffic.
