Summary: Bought this and it is unable to down load the initial essential software due to lack of memory. This is a problem with many TomTom devices but I thought the GO940 was exempt. IT IS NOT. So it goes back tomorrow!! UTTERLY USELESS!!
Summary: Please do not buy this Tomtom 940. I have had so many problems with mine the main problem being it keeps on switching it self off! It sometimes switches off and resets itself! Losing all my preferences etc. Also if you buy any map up dates always back up your Tomtom first as it wipes all your favorites off when it installs the maps! Some thing no one warns you about.
Summary: I purchased TomTom GO 940 Satellite Navigation System - LIVE Worldwide and, to my amazement, soon found out that "Worlwide" was a big exaggeration - the product did not even come with the full map of Europe! Customer services suggested that I purchase additional maps directly from TomTom. In my view, this is unfair marketing, to say the least.
Excerpt: I never was much of a fan of the whole sat-nav craze, and the stories of people completely stripped of their common sense driving on train tracks or into rivers certainly fortified my avoidance of them. But seeing this in an electrical store, I thought ‘what the hell, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it’ so I went ahead and bought it.
Dissapointing experience, returned it and bought a Garmin Nuvi 765T

Summary: The bad: - If you have a convertible you can forget about TomTom. The display cannot be read in sunny conditions. In my other car I had a Garmin Nuvi 760 so I put them side by side at 100% brightness - the Garmin was fine, but with the TomTom I could not even see the car icon. I tried different colour schemes including the High Visibility ones that can be downloaded, but it is the screen that makes it impossible to use it.
Summary: hi i have purchased the new 940 live but i didnt rush into it for once i looked up all the reviews first as it is a lot of money and most were on about the live services and how they are not yet working correctly and too wait untill problem solved but me being me once i have it in my head i gotta have it so i went down halfords and got it asked about bluetooth remote control he said its got it i had too make sure as other people had problems getting one with it so got...

Summary: TomTom GO 940 Satellite Navigation System - LIVE Worldwide This product is simply a con and reeks of a penny pinching rush job from TomTom. The services are patchy and costly (£96 a year)and the mount included is a blatant rip off - whilst the new design is nice, this mount DOES NOT allow you to control your Ipod nor contains a line out socket (to get these functions you'll have to pay extra of an additional mount which is poor considered the amount you've shelled out...
Summary: Tom Tom appear to have huge probles with these devices. Along (apparenrtly) with many other units, the live services do not work at all. The unit constantly brings up an error message that imforms you that it is unable to connect to the server due to being inn a foreign country (which it isn't).
Summary: A really excellent piece of kit. IQ routes are great. However the TomTom Live Services did not work from the start even though I called TomTom tech support before I tried to connect, as I heard there could be problems. TomTom themselves really have no idea why it does not work and are not able to escalate. One technician told me "only" about 3 out of 10 don't function with Live Services.
Summary: Bought the 940 two weeks ago and it has been nothing but trouble. Speed camera alerts are not working properly and Traffic does not work at all. TomTom support answer is that no fix available yet and they will let me know if one is available ... but not when! They should fix bugs first then sell the units not the other way around. Mine is going back for a refund and I shall revert to using my 910.
