Summary: I chose to buy this product because I needed a good, efficient GPRS navigator with US and European maps. When I used this product in the UK, it was quite impressive but once I updated the US map, it seems like the program slow down a bit. Sometimes when we were driving in the US, it would just switch off by itself and we would have to switch it back on again. We did a cross country trip and sometimes we would drive up to 4 hours a day.
Summary: I bought this unit for three feature just before taking a holiday, 1. Navigation 2. The FM transmitter and jukebox feature for music as I have no other means of playing MP3s in the car 3. Bluetooth hands free feature as I don't have that. In short, the software is very buggy for anything other than basic navigation, and the Live services cost too much for what they provide. I wish I'd bought a cheaper unit as the extra features don't seem to work properly.
Summary: I've had my 940 for just about a year now and generally I'm happy with it. The best feature is the Live services which removes some of the uncertainty when travelling up and down the motorway a lot (like wot I do). It's saved me quite a lot of time over the last year and it's generally reliable although you can never be sure how up to date the warnings are (a number of 'jams' seem to magically disappear as I'm driving through where they're supposed to be).
Summary: Bought this and it is unable to down load the initial essential software due to lack of memory. This is a problem with many TomTom devices but I thought the GO940 was exempt. IT IS NOT. So it goes back tomorrow!! UTTERLY USELESS!!
A good Sat Nav with lots of useful and some not that useful features

Summary: The Go 940 Live is a very good SatNav in my view. The features that I found positive about are: 1. MP3 player - the allegedly more modern and apparently more popular Go 950 model does not seem to have a MP3 player - but this model Go 940 has one. 2. Has a FM transmitter which can transmit the music played by the built in MP3 player to a frequency you can adjust - so you can get the music going in your car while you drive with the SatNav.
Summary: I have had this item for 6 months and was generally please with it. But I have just returned it for a refund as it no longer loads the map updates. The item came preloaded with the European and North American maps. I have been paying for the monthly map updates. Unfortunately, last months 2 maps did not fit onto the 4Gb internal memory supplied on the device. I contacted TomTom who initially advised me to buy a memory card.
Summary: I have been using the GO 940 for a month now and it is brilliant. I had been using Smartnav for over 5 years and it was a difficult choice between updating with a new Smartnav or buying the GO 940. Unfortunately Smartnav have not responded to the changing market as their prices both for installation and subscriptions are sky-high.
Summary: I have used iPaq PDA based TT Nav 4>5>6 for years. Battery reliability of the separate GPS unit was becoming an issue, so it was time to upgrade. A little research and I opted for the TT 940 Go Live. Awesome bit of kit. Better software then I am used to with so many extras, including Hands Free telephone and iPod FM relay to my car radio.
Summary: This TomTom is a lot better than some I have seen, it's a lot slimmer to start with, the screen seems to be better and it has a few extra features that you think you will never use, but you will....... The only thing I had to do when I got it out of the box was to update the maps. I have used this in Europe, England and the States, with no trouble at all. I have also used quite a few of the built in features and they work as advertised.
