  • Conclusion: Salesmen and lorry drivers criss-crossing the country will appreciate the sheer wealth of time-shaving features on board the 940. Weekend drivers, however, might find this hitch-hiker an expensive luxury.
  • Pros: Is this a satnav or an iPhone stuck on its side? The 940’s GPRS web connection is a long way from 3G but it’s just right for keeping you up to date with local road conditions, tracking down businesses and saving a third of a penny on a litre of unleaded. As you’d expect from TomTom’s flagship navigator, the easy to use 940 is groaning with extra features, such as one-touch map updates, IQ Routes that take into account the time of day, and attentive voice recognition. ...
  • Cons: You’ll have to spend a lot of time on the road at rush hour to justify TomTom’s £8 monthly fee for the Live services (although do you get the first three months’ free). The service has had some teething issues, too, including poor coverage in some areas.
