Summary: I recently took a road trip with my family and this was a great gps device. My wife was able to put in the address of the hotel and then the destination where she wanted to take the kids(while i golfed) and had no problems finding her way around.
Summary: This is a standard navigation device. It does get you to the entered destination, although it frequently follows a convoluted path over which you have little control. I tried to go several times between identical locations during the same time of day and it found different route every time.
Summary: Bought this GPS in July of 2008 for my wife who has no sense of direction. Pros: Big screen. Easy to use. Customizable interface. Cons: Destination side not mentioned. Bluetooth can be flaky. FM transmitter needs more than 2 preset stations.
Summary: After one year, after the warranty had expired, the unit would not turn on. It had sat on the shelf most of the time, when I pulled it out for a vacation and charged it up, it would not start. Tech support said they would not repair it, they wouldn't even try!
Summary: Bought the TomTom Go 920 just a year ago and took it to Germany with me, worked beautifully. The device lived up to all the hype in all the five star reviews. Exactly one year from the date of purchase, during a drive through an unfamiliar part of Frankfurt, my TomTom started changing screens by...
So-so, Voice breaks up rendering device widely unusable
19 January 2009
Summary: This is my second TomTom GO (I also own the GO 910). The unit basically works fine, but there is one BIG drawback: when using a computer voice (so the unit reads out loud names of streets and cities) the voice only works with very fundamental patterns of intersections and exits.
TomTom 920 beats Garmin 750 - but map quality is poor
K. Nelson, Amazon
20 December 2008
Summary: I tried a Magellan early in the fall. Didn't like the routing or the "hangs" so returned it. (Amazon has great service). I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 750 but didn't even bother to try a road trip. Routing from Hollister to Carmel CA it chose a route through some back roads that I know is very slow.
Summary: Just got this. I was debating between this and the Garmin nuvi 660. A friend has the 660 so I figured I try the TomTom. In terms of navigation accuracy, it's pretty good. Locked in on a gps signal in seconds after turning it on for the first time; I was still in a covered parking structure.
Summary: My review is based in comparison to the Garmin 370 and Magellan 3140 GPS units. Whil each unit that I've owned has different bells and whistles, the most important feauture is its routing and user friendliness. The 920, btw, had the latest software/internet updates installed (purchased June 2008).
Summary: Hawaii addresses, perhaps the majority, are of the form 46-047 Kamehameha Hwy. That s a bank. It's in the Points Of Interest that way. There is no "-" key on the TomTom house number screen. There's no other way to enter the address. So I both called and emailed their customer service.
