Summary: I am writing to help you guys out there. I have bought this Satnav July 2011. Pre-loaded with with Europe maps. Everyone here has had some problem with map updates. I had the same problem but managed to get it fixed myself on a Saturday when there was no help to call when TomTom help center is closed. **This is only applicable to NEW DEVICES when your mapupdates are Free after 30 days purchase**. Advices: 1) Buy TomTom WITH SD CARD memory.
Summary: I bought this sat nav to replace an ageing Go730. Sorry to have lost the jukebox and FM transmitter, but in other respects a great step forward. Better volume, clever mount (though expensive if you need another for eg another car)and live services are great (but now minus fuel prices).
Summary: Did all that a sat nav should, the only complaint is that it led me down a narrow strret that had bollards at the end and i could not remember how to mark this so that it would update the map share. The Google feature was excellent, it found and directed us to interesting new places on a recent holiday trip.
Excerpt: My girlfriend had been pestering me for ages to get a sat nav for her car, and a few months ago i took the plunge to treat her. As we are planning on driving to the south of France later in the year, I wanted to make sure i got one with Europe maps on. I had uses Tomtom before so I knew it would be from this brand. After much looking i decided to get the next one down from the top spec Tomtom, the GO 750 LIVE. UK, ROI & Europe.
Summary: Replaced an older TomTom with this device based on reputation, familiarity and the spec. Would have liked the Live traffic updates subscription to be for 2/3 years or even life of unit. The device functions well, as I expected, and I have no problems with the operation. One of the reasons I chose the 750 rather than the less expensive 55 was the fact that it had maps of Europe and the UK.
Summary: I bought this last week, although it is an old model. I was not worried too much as we are entitiled to update to new map. Then you decide what maps you want to update. If it is whole of Europe, then order 4GB SD card. Costs 4 quid on Amazon. If you just want Western/Eastern/Central map ( any single zone) then there is no need to order 4GB SD Card. Now first upgrade the tomtom home software to minimum of version 8.
Summary: The TomTom GO Live750 SatNav is a good piece of gear! It does everything that 'it says on the box'. My criticisms are that the 'voice' for the direction instructions is a little overbearing at times, yet also deadly accurate. I must also state that you can download other voices which I have not yet done. I was somewhat miffed to find out that the full mapping that it is advertised to have will not fit into the memory of it.
Summary: Got the tomtom go 750 a few days before driving to germany - it is my first ever satnav. I used it in london a couple of times first- seemed to work fine, but sometimes couldn't deal with me being diverted and not being able to turn around. On the trip to germany it was great - got me from my flat in london direct to the flat in Munich with no problems.
Summary: This is a great product. Only fault I can find is that it is hard to change the volume as it hidden away in the menu. Either buttons on the side or a quick entry on the front screen would have been better. Other than that its nice and clear.
