Summary: This is my first purchase of TomTom and I have been using this for a couple of months now. I would neither say I am satisfied nor unsatisfied about the performance. I have had few good experiences as well as a few bad. The good ones 1. It had saved me a few hours by taking me though alternate routes during traffic congestions using the live routes. 2. I like the display and the screen size. It is not to big nor too small. 3.
Excerpt: My girlfriend had been pestering me for ages to get a sat nav for her car, and a few months ago i took the plunge to treat her. As we are planning on driving to the south of France later in the year, I wanted to make sure i got one with Europe maps on. I had uses Tomtom before so I knew it would be from this brand. After much looking i decided to get the next one down from the top spec Tomtom, the GO 750 LIVE. UK, ROI & Europe.
Summary: Having read the previous reviews I was hoping the problems raised would have been rectified. Oh how wrong I was!!. I attempted to download the updated map only to find there was insufficient memory to store it, and the initial map had been deleted. The download took so long I left it overnight! Rang technical support who downloaded a new map for me. After downloading the new map, I then got an error message on my device.
Summary: TomTomHome-V2.7 application on my laptop won't see the TomTom :( it's been nearly a month, with 5 different TechSupport people at TomTom (who only work Mon-Fri work hours so for me time off work to contact them with my laptop running and TomTom connected at home)and still the required (to get latest maps, voices etc) downloaded TomTomHome application does not 'see' the TomTom device, whereas my laptop 'MyComputer' and task pane does see the connected TomTom device.
Summary: I used to have the the 730T and decided I would buy a nice new shiny 750 instead of doing a map upgrade. Now I think the live traffic is good. Ok sometimes it doesnt tell you in time when there are delays but overall i think it has saved me more time from sitting in traffic jams than if i didnt have one. I have the 12 month subscription with the new one and i like the petrol prices which can divert your route to take you to a cheap petrol station.
Summary: I upgraded from an original Tom Tom - I only upgraded because there was no longer space for maps. This new gizmo is amazing - love the live service - knowing how long a holdup will take takes the pressure away - also the option to reroute. For me the big DOWNSIDE is that is runs out of battery after 2 hours - even if it's plugged into the cigarette lighter - doesn't seem to make any odds.
Summary: Yep, I bought this one to replace my 550 live which I returned as it was rebooting constantly. This is the same but not as bad. What a shame because when it does work properly its a fine unit. I have posted forums about the rebooting issue and, aparently, it is the same with the 950 live also. Tom Tom should have never released an item that doesn't work properly. Obviously *50 live series of sat navs were never tested thoroughly. Buy it but you have been warned!
Summary: The product is excellent in all but one catagory, that of blue tooth connection to your phone, I might be guilty of not checking out the compatable phones before buying but i was exteemly disapointed after purchase to find that it did not work with my Blackbery 8920 Curve! which was one of the drivers that made me buy the upmarket model. I also found that Tom Tom were very unhelpfull when i rang the Customer care line so beware check out the phones before you buy.
Summary: I bought the 750 after having a much cheaper Garmin sat nav for about 3 years. I was looking for a significant upgrade... and I have to say I am still undecided whether or not to return the unit. So far: 1. I had to wait over a month from the estimated delivery date for the unit to arrive (may not be TT's fault, maybe Amazon) 2. Following the first upgrade from Tom Tom Home, all of the speed cameras are showing incorrect speeds and 3 weeks later TT cannot find a fix.
