Pros: When it works it's great, does what it should
Cons: If you ever do an update on the Home Software or the GPS software be ready to return it to TomTom for a replacement...assuming it's under warranty. On both of my 740's I've had to have them replaced three times or more because the software updates corrupt
Summary: I've had this GPS for about a year and thought it was the coolest thing at first. But the flaws got numerous and ugly. The voice recognition doesn't work for crap. The bluetooth connection is finicky. The big feature LIVE Google search, weather, and traffic is expensive ($10/month) and doesn't work half the time ("Server is unreachable") and when it does work its incredibly slow... like 4 to 5 minutes to deo a query. Usually takes about 10 minutes to connect at startup.
Summary: Pros: The device is ok. Garmen is better. Cons: If you have a problem you'll have to deal with TomTom customer service. Online is foreign based and absolutely a waste of time. Their answer 100% of the time was, "contact phone support". Telephone support is US based, but their staff is untrained and only interested in terminating your call. If you need a replacement, you're going to get a refurbished unit. Monthly service charge.
Summary: I purchased this product TWICE as "factory refurbished" from Amazon. As others have commented, it looks like new when you take it out of the box, but looks can be deceiving. The cigarette lighter adapter tip was broken on both units I purchased. I was able to charge them both using the supplied home dock. After I went through the startup setup sequence is when you start to realize that something is amiss.

Summary: I have never done a product review online before but I am now compelled to do one for the Tomtom 740 Go Live to warn prospective buyers. I have owned many generations of Tomtom for the last several years, starting with the tiny but very reliable Tomtom One. A year ago, I decided to get the 740 Live because I wanted the traffic, live google search, and the dash board dock (eliminating the need to plug/unplug the cable to the GPS).
