Pros: When it works it's great, does what it should
Cons: If you ever do an update on the Home Software or the GPS software be ready to return it to TomTom for a replacement...assuming it's under warranty. On both of my 740's I've had to have them replaced three times or more because the software updates corrupt
Cons: If you have a problem you'll have to deal with TomTom customer service. Online is foreign based and absolutely a waste of time. Their answer 100% of the time was, "contact phone support". Telephone support is US based, but their staff is untrained.
Cons: I am at my third device, live services works rarely, customer service is terrible and it takes over 1/2 hour to get someone, and does not resolve anything because there is nothing to troubleshoot , this product and the software just do not work.
Pros: I actually have the GO 750, but can't find it here to review. Location seems quite accurate- but only a day of city use so far
Cons: Forget the voice recognition. Tomtom signs in store indicated free US maps with product (bought in Australia). No "expiry" marked on the signs. Same day, couldn't figure how to get US maps so called support to find "offer expired" a week ago.
Summary: I was gifted a new TomTom Go 740 live for Christmas 2009. On a recent trip to Oregon from Texas it started to shut off for no apparent reason. Was told by TomTom support that since I did not have a receipt for the gifted unit that the warranty was only good from the date of manufacture. So I was SOL.
