Summary: After using Garmin GPS systems for many years, I decided to buy the 730T Based on features and bang for the buck. I love the display and actual navigation......however, here are my issues: 1)Loses Bluetooth communication with my phone often and needs to be reset through reset hole in bottom. 2)Has few POI's, and the majority of thm are in the wrong location, and I mean WAY off, sometimes miles.
Summary: I have GPS built in to my car and use it often, especially for information such as services available at the next exit etc. My wife and I go scootering on Sundays and take all the back roads to our destination. I was printing directions from Google Maps but they are cumbersome to read on a scooter (pull it out, unfold, read next step, fold, put away).
Summary: The first 730 it got from Amazon (not a refurbished item) was defective, but they sent my right away a new device. The replaced item is working good. Compared to a old cheap Garmin the directions are not so much better, sometimes even worse, e.g. the old Garmin tells on which side of the street the destination is located, the TomTom doesn't. This could be improved. What I really like is the lane assistant.
Summary: We bought this specifically because it listed European data as being preloaded. This is not the case and you have to buy the data. If this is important to you, do not buy or be aware you'll need to pay extra.
Summary: I was very excited about the traffic info service that came with my Tomtom. However, after many phone calls to tech support (that's another story), I was told that the traffic info service is limited in some areas. The rep was short on his "some areas" statement. He redirected me to this web site [...]. The only areas where Tomtom traffic works are represented by red dots. In California, there are only six red dots. There are states with no dots at all.
Summary: i have used this product now for over six months, its as tom tom so what more can i say as it does its job well. i can ony fault it on its battery life which is terrible, not sure how long i am meant to be charging it for as it was not indicated in the manual anywhere. i place it in its cradle for at least 3hrs some times longer-however thr green light doest seem to go off to indicate that it has fully charged.
Navigation Good. Traffic TMC useless. FM transmission poor.

Summary: For me sat nav needs to be able to plot a good route through congested routes around London and avoid traffic jams as much as possible. I therefore made sure I got a TomTom with IQ routes and traffic. The route finding with IQ routes works well and overall the unit is easy to use however there are a couple of major disappointments. The TMC traffic service is rubbish. Barely functional.
Summary: The product is fine but the Customer Service takes one into a somewhat surreal world. My TomTom froze and was replaced promptly by Amazon but one is not allowed to register more than one device with TomTom and the replacement product must be registered by Tom Tom.. Two weeks later , having supplied all manner of serial numbers, proof of purchase etc my new TomTom is not registered and that means no updates are possible. My advice DO NOT BUY Tom Tom.
