The GO 730 offers a less expensive, but still capable alternative to its big brother the GO 930. A rung below TomTom’s flagship GO 930, the GO 730 offers a ever-so-slightly shorter feature set, and purely superficial aesthetic color swap, in exchange for a $50 price cut. Buyers lose enhanced positioning technology and the ability to upgrade to handle traffic data (which the 930 can only do via Bluetooth with a cell phone and data plan, unless you spend another $50 for... • Price; accurate travel time estimates; painless Bluetooth setup; quality mount; included dock and PC software; superior build quality
    • Weak voice input; interface could use a visual update; tricky FM transmitter; not-always-brilliant routing

Overall, the TomTom GO 730 does not seem to quite match the description of the "perfect GPS," but it certainly does not fall into the category of "beginner's choice" either. This model is great for users who have experienced other, less-featured TomTom devices but want more out of their navigation system. Read more

Tweet UPDATE: An even newer model, the TomTom GO 740 LIVE , adds connected services such as Google Local search. UPDATE 2: This model has been discontinued. For a list of current TomTom models and their features, please see our TomTom comparison chart . The TomTom GO 730 updates the TomTom GO 720 with several new features — advanced lane guidance (pictured above), IQ Routes TM and voice address input. I’ll delve into those a little later in the review. Read more

From a very easy installation, to its built-in intelligence, the TomTom GO 730 delivers a navigation system that is far more than a multimedia presentation of how to get from point A to point B. Read more

I have the 730 and it is a problem. I did not use mine much and now it is out of warrantee. I spoke with Technical they told me there was a known problem with this unit and the 630. He tried to reload the application. Did not work and since the warrantee was a couple of months out. I am out of luck also, I thought I was buying a reputable company that is why I spent the extra money. Will never buy another TomTom. Have yours replaced now before the warrantee runs out. Read more

Let me say first that I do expedited point to point delivery work, mostly to and from addresses I have not been to before, many times over hundreds of miles of road. General GPS comments: You cannot default to any GPS for shortest and most accurate routes between distant points especially in rural and mountainous areas. I leave it set on Fastest Route, and yet it still treats me like a tourist looking for the best views at times. Read more

Definitely a feature-rich and easy-to-use GPS. Only complaint was the inaccurate product description in JR.COM. The latest map update was included in the product description but it's actually not provided for this being refurbished. I got partial refund from JR.COM for this issue though. Read more
