Good dea

Anonymous, Newegg
4 October 2009
  • Summary: Good value... takes place of multiple devices in car, but the MP3 player and bluetooth speakerphone have a few shortcomings minor. For the MP3 player you need an SD card as the 720 has limited internal memory - which is also a plus as you just take the SD card with you when you want to add/delete...
  • Pros: Came in "as new" condition. All-in-one unit takes place of MP3 player and bluetooth handsfree - less gadgets to fuss around with in car, less wires. Always gets me where I need to go. Ability to download phone contacts into unit's bluetooth handsfree makes for a nice "heads up" display to see who...
  • Cons: Short battery life (not an issue - I keep mine plugged in), outdated maps, sometimes prefers to go down side streets rather than nearby highways. Bluetooth speakerphone is mediocre at best - hard to hear both sides of conversation at highway speeds - unless you're stopped. MP3 player has limited ...

Great Functionality

Anonymous, Newegg
1 September 2009
  • Summary: Just remember with this being a refurb that the maps will be old and the Tomtom map update guarantee will have expired.
  • Pros: Hands free phone connection is pretty good. Voice recognition is quite accurate and even if it doesn't understand you completely, it still gives other choices that do match what you said. Mapshare is the sole reason for going with Tomtom. Being able to change map errors is important for me since ...
  • Cons: Tomtom maps.....I heard they were bad and I believe they truly are the weakest link. I had a Delphi before this one and it would put you at someones front door, Tomtom is lucky to get you within a 1/4 mile at times. Unfortunately since I bought a refurb, the map was 2 years old and Tomtom will no...

Referb's OK

Hans H., Newegg
31 March 2009
  • Summary: if your unit needs new maps, you might want to look at Getting a new one. $110 for updated map and 3 more updates. Almost the same cost as a new one.
  • Pros: good price, awesome product, No problems with FM, PIO's or the Shared PIO's.
  • Cons: NOT eligible for tomtom's 30 day map upgrade....i ended up spending $110 on new maps because they were so severely outdated....

Impressive Unit

Richard K., Newegg
27 March 2009
  • Summary: Ipod cables could be a bit cheaper. A case for the unit is a necessity since you don't want to leave it up in public. I travel, so an extra set of accessories is nice for the road.
  • Pros: Feature packed, great priced unit. Love the size, battery life, FM transmitter, bluetooth, MP3, Ipod connectivity, easy to setup and easy to use. I am impressed with the overall ease of using all the features. Love the map sharing feature and the choices of voices.
  • Cons: Maps are over a year old and are discounted to $50, just to get up to date, then another $50 per year for quarterly updates.

Needs Map Update!

Mr. M., Newegg
16 December 2008
  • Summary: I purchased the refurbished model and it looked new to me.
  • Pros: Text to speech street names is great. If your auto sound system has an aux or MP3 jack, you can listen to directions and phone calls through your sound system speakers. When the MP3 player is pluded directly into your sound sustem it sounds great. This is my 3rd GPS and it is faster than the othe...
  • Cons: Frequently takes you to an incorrect destination. I would like an accurate map and I do not believe I should have to pay for map upgrades.

Wonderfull GPS

John M., Newegg
16 August 2008
  • Pros: Nice, large touchscreen that is almost always responsive. Plays music and directional voices very clear. Isn't too heavy or hard to stash away in the car when parked for extended periods of time.
  • Cons: Battery life could be better.

Tom Tom GO 720

Eleanor H Pendergraft, Amazon
7 July 2008
  • Summary: This is a good product for the price, I think, though I haven't really used it yet. I've only programmed it. This was pretty easy. I hope using it will be just as easy.
