Summary: Having only owned one GPS device in my life and that was a hand held, I didn't know what to expect from a vehicle GPS, boy was I surprised, first off it works right out of the box just plug it in and your ready to go! Tom Tom makes it easy and it's so simple to operate and use, you can even use your Blue Tooth capable phone with it and go hands free!
Summary: The Tomtom 710 is a great gps. I have to say it is really easy to use put a zip code and address all from the touch screen and plots a course either shortest or fastest. I would say the tomtom is similar to mapquest or google maps. The maps are kept up to date by driver like yourself, if you find a road has changed you can submit it in a map share program.
Summary: It had a very good price/fuctions ratio. Functions include hand-free, bluetooth, radio, etc. However, this GPS unit has some software issues. Some of them relate to the different models of Tomtom Go 510/710/910. Therefore, some functions are availible ONLY on 910 and screw the functionality of 710. For example GO 710 can not say street names, while many BASIC units can do it. But do not get me wrong: The funstionality is outstading.
Summary: great for the traveling worker use it daily and love the fact it keeps my speed in check the only real problem i have is the fact that it dont understand truck routes or low overpasses so i have to constantly recheck the routeing so i dont get into a real sticky situation
Summary: I seen the tom tom here on E-bay.It was one of the cheaper ones so i got it for work. When i got it i could not get it to read the sd card for the map.So then they sent a new sd card and still nothing. And then i seen they charged for all upgrades. So then i seen the Garmin and got it.It has free upgrades. It was so easy to work.Id get nothing else now.
Summary: They sent me a unit that did not work. When I asked for a replacement or to repair the one they sent; they stopped communicating with me. btw The serial # was partiality scraped off! I'm now the proud owner of a $85.00 GPS that doesn't work. I went and bought one at my local Wal-Mart.
Summary: I've owned a few TomToms prior to this one and have loved them all (so do others as the last 2 were stolen from my vehicles. The free map updates help me rate the TomTom at the top of my list (I've been a legal computer retailer since 1981 and recommend all types of electronics)until now. Apparently this model is exempt from free maps. The copy of the ads do not say anything regarding this matter so when it was ordered I expected the same free map feature. Not so.
Summary: This is a ½ inch larger than other typical mid-tier competitors. Also, this is a wide screen format. * Greatly improved GPS performance * Hundreds of features and software improvements * The new GO range comes with the free software application TomTom HOME. Serving as a portal it enables users to easily manage, download and store content from their computer - Every new TomTom GO comes with the HOME dock, enabling users to connect to TomTom HOME through their computer.
Summary: expensive, so slow that I often am going around roundabouts and junctions twice, often miss turnings etc because the stupid machine can't keep up with a car. Does not have enough memory to fit the updates so you are forced to buy a memory card - annoying.
