Summary: I drive a convertible, and the screen, although big, is not great in sunlight. Nor is the volume adequate in a loud vehicle with wind noise. The voice function kept waking up, mistaking the noise for me! Furthermore unlike Apple products which are very easy to use, this isn't at all obvious. You'll have to study the online manual and even then it will be a frustrating business learning to use all the features, which are unnecessarily complicated.
Summary: I bought this because the Garmin zumo 660 I have with lifetime updates still does not have adequate mapping of my locality. I bought a TomTom Start 25 for my wife which doeshave our area well covered and thought this top of the range large screen version would be a good device. The main features it is missing are: A 'go home' facility, ideally one click. Because our location is slightly off a road this is not easy to do on the device at the moment.
Summary: Good and easy to select routes. Frustrating that it is unable to navigate to numbers of houses and frequent errors from selected post codes. European maps used in Portugal - did not recognise many roads! Fast route planning software and good size and clear screen, but the large size can be obtrusive for driving vision in a small car.
Summary: TomTom has a reputation for making excellent devices which in my experience have worked better than those of others, with superior traffic monitoring. But there are problems. Irritating and time-consuming ones, sometimes causing serious delay. For every TomTom satnav you own you have to register with a different email address. Lots of people own more than one. In my case I want to keep the old one for backup.
Summary: I bought the TomTom 6000 as it came with lifetime maps and traffic and my old Go 910 was a little past it, or so I thought. The new nav has improved map views when compared to my old model and I really like how it makes it clear on which lane to be in at a motorway junction. There are however a number of annoying issues with the device which includes; turning up of the volume is slightly more tricky and while the device does have a mute soft-key it is rather small.
oh dear, what have they done. No voice commands, no hands free calling. Speed cameras now £19.99 for 1 year. no longer free

Summary: The 6 inch sat nav is HUGE and looks amazing, but I had problems connecting the 2nd and the subsequent times. I couldn't link my old tomtom account to my new one, it just hang for 20 minutes, then said error time after time afterwards. The manual is now online only and the link via mytomtom webpage is broken. I like the feature where you select a cross road and it shows them all on the screen on a map rather than just the names of streets.
