Excerpt: "...well the maps provided by Tomtom are very clear/easy to follow and are updated 4 times a year. If using the map update service, these can be updated from £7.99 each time, compared to £49.99+ if purchased "off the shelf". Tomtom's 'IQ Routes' uses historical data to route you the most appropriate route for the time of day/day of the week that you are travelling, thus often saving time and fuel in the process. Maps sometimes are wrong or out of date ...
Pros: Easy to use, very accurate and a great alternative to sitting in traffic jams
Cons: Handsfree mobile system can be tempremental & fairly high price to purchase
Summary: TomTom GO 540 Satellite Navigation System - LIVE UK & ROI Having previously purchased a Tom Tom One I decided to upgrade to the Tom Tom GO Live 540. Maps are up to date and the live traffic takes all the decision making out of a journey. I did have a problem getting a signal on a Friday during rush hour, so reverted back to manually avoiding traffic.
Summary: TomTom GO 540 Satellite Navigation System - LIVE UK & ROI I travel 30k miles around the U/K and require a Sat/Nav. I felt I needed to up-grade my TomTom 920 to a Sat/Nav that had built in Traffic up-dates the new 540 seemed to fit my requirements. Having used it on a few trips I find it fantastic live traffic news is really useful, the additional features like lane options at jucntion is a great idea, however in heavey traffic dosent give you enough warning, other...
A great piece of kit but I would only reccommend it if you think you will use all the extra features

Excerpt: As with a few of my other reviews on sat navs, I do not own this product, but have been product testing it and was very impressed so am now writing a review on it as nobody else has! The Tomtom 540 Live is one of three in the latest set of sat navs to be released by Tomtom. The others include the 740 and 940 Live, which work excatly the same as this one does so the review can also be applied to these.
Summary: I put off SatNav for ages because of the price and arguing that I wouldn't use it enough to warrant the expense. Then I looked at all the alternative as the prices came down. Then I chose this one and having compared it with friends using other systems I feel righteously smug and vindicated.
If you can afford it, this Tomtom is a revelation.

Summary: We've all experienced the dilemma, haven't we? We want to change the route on our satnav, perhaps as a result of congestion, and we're trying to press the buttons whilst driving, without anyone seeing us perform such a crazy stunt. If you can accept the usual Tomtom failures, as described by other reviewers, then this device is worth considering for one reason alone; its ability to automatically navigate around congestion without having to press a single button whilst on...
Summary: We bought a Tomtom Go 540 LIVE for our sales vans. We already have various TomToms which are getting old and out of date. Our vans cover 1000+ miles per week each, all over the UK, so we wanted to try one of these to see if it is worth rolling out across our fleet. So far, it's been a very positive experience.
Summary: I held back from buying the new GO LIVE sat nav from TomTom thinking it might be full of gimmicks, but now I have one I am SO pleased. I travel a lot with my job, and it made an immediate difference to how I drive and plan my journeys. I bought the 540 version. Local Search with Google: this is truly awesome and almost makes the previous POI redundant. It enables you to find just about any named place you want to go, local, or in any town or city.
