Riddled with problems - avoid buying

  • Summary: Bought this unit 6 months ago and it has been problematic ever since. First of all Live Traffic stopped working and despite hours on the phone to tech support and numerous "fixes" it still doesn't (a quick search online reveals I'm by no means the only 540 owner having this problem though). More recently the touchscreen has become increasingly unresponsive, the unit reboots itself repeatedly on even short journeys and frequently loses the satellite signal.

  • Summary: Why did I read the reviews after I bought this TomTom? The live services are not working you are unable to connect to the internet with a error 107. Does anybody know if this is definitely a fault or a enable at server issue?

  • Summary: Do not touch this satnav from Amazon. I have had two and had to send both back as they were unable to live link. The people at TomTom tried to sort it out over the telephone but were unable.

Live Services not working , unit does not connect

  • Summary: As many other people have written, there seems to be a problem with many units not connecting to the Live Services. I have been unlucky enough to have one of the units that gives the connection error 107 message.   • Summary: I took delivery of a TT 540GO Live and after 2 weeks it still didn't work - no live services. The support team at TomTom were useless. Kept sending me the same things to try over and over again. Nothing could get rid of the error message "No network coverage" In the end I sent it back to amazon for a refund.

Check your compatability

  • Summary: I bought this satnav, as it was the latest Tomtom, with all the whistles and bells. this is the first satnav I've owned, so I can only compare it to what I'd want from a satnav. In short - it ain't worth it. I was going to go for the Go 520, but at the last minute opted to spend the extra cash for the new features. I'm driving about 100 miles a day to and from work, so wanted one with handsfree, to make sure I could make calls without being nicked.

Useless!

  • Summary: I bought an earlier version (a TomTom GO 500) a few years ago and was really pleased with the device so when I took the plunge and bought the latest sat nav, the GO 540 LIVE that has just been released, I was sorely disappointed. I'd come to expect clear sound, an easy-to-use touch-screen and a solid and reliable product from TomTom. No other make came close when I researched sat nav devices a few years ago. How things change!
