Summary: Had it several years without a problem. I get regular map and traffic updates from TomTom that I have to pay for. I see most modern units seem to have Lifetime updates that are subscription free
Summary: This TomTom has been a helpful companion, especially when I downloaded the French maps for last summer's holiday. It is very useful on a number of fronts. Its one glitch is its tendency to take a direct route through B class roads, even when the setting is at 85% motorway use. That said, it has always got us there. On busy motorway intersections it is a blessing, giving confidence and lowering blood-pressure!
Summary: Used this for a few years now, has served me well. The additional FM traffic aerial has saved my bacon a few times too. The battery is tired now, but I might replace it for a few pounds, and hope to get a few more years out of the Tomtom.
Excerpt: This unit replaced my other tomtom software that I used on a HP iPaq. Boy was it a difference - The feel when you take it out of the box was so great that you feel immediately that this has to cost more. The colour the feel and finish were just amazing. The screen size was BIG I mean real BIIIIG- it is about 4.3 inches The box also come with a car charger and windscreen mount , very handy. The battery life a full charge was about 3-4 hrs.
I wouldn't swap it for any other SatNav - It gets you to where you want to be!

Excerpt: Quick Summary: Best Satnav around, easy to use and reliable! Tomtom's do exactly what they are meant to do. They get you to your destination via the fastest or shortest route, even if you want to get somewhere and avoid motorways, the Go 520 will get you there. It will tell you the exact distance of the planned journey, how long it will take to get there, what time you will start and end the journey, it will give you prompt and loud directions so you can hear it very...
Summary: Having perused many reviews and much information regarding satnav systems, I eventually decided upon the TomTom Go 520 as my first ever unit. I was more than satisfied with the unit, and was less than gruntled when - due to my own carelessness - it was stolen. I looked at the newer models that had become available since my original purchase, but saw nothing that was an improvement on the Go 520, so I promptly purchased another.
Summary: I had a pefectly good GO 520-T and when it was stolen from my car I had little hesitation replacing it with exactly the same model. The new device is a disapointment. Often when I switch it on it locks up requiring a pin in the reset hole to get it going again. And the display update seems slower than the old device. On roundabouts for example, my old device was able to visually indicate the right exit. This one can't keep up.
Summary: My first SatNav after years of thinking they were a waste of money. Reasonably easy to use which is fortunate as the instructions are very vague. Loved it until it decided to upgrade the operating system on visiting TomTom Home. It has never worked since saying that a file was corrupted every time I try to fix it with the hints supplied by the TomTom "support" (not what I would call it).
