Really neat!

Nathan A. Edwards, Amazon
19 May 2011
  • Summary: I want to preface my review by stating that the only point of comparison that I have is a two year old Garmin nüvi 255W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator . I only mention this because there is an obvious price point difference and I want to be fair to Garmin. That being said this is the most ascetically pleasing, most feature laden, and downright neatest GPS I have used or seen.

This unit will route you into unsafe areas.

Phil, Amazon

  • Summary: I have had 2 Garmins and and after reading a few reviews I bought the TomTom which I thought offered better navigation features. The unit has many great features, but what it does not have is decent route planning software. Your destination may be at the end of a straight road you are traveling and the unit will route you off on some back road or into a subdivision.

I Love Everything About This (Except for The Directions)

Geoffrey Kleinman, Amazon
18 May 2011
  • Summary: I did a lot of research on TomTom vs Garmin and ultimately got one of each. Purely from a directions point of view I like my Garmin better, however given the fantastic utility of the TomTom I actually USE my TomTom More. Here's what I love about the TomTom: - Great integration with my iPhone so I can use it as a hands free speakerphone in my car - Fantastic display that I can clearly see even in bright light - Perfect mount which positions the GPS perfectly in the car...

Significant Improvement

Fredric G. Rubenstein "NY Fred", Amazon
15 May 2011
  • Summary: I have owned Tom Tom's GO 740 Live and XXL 540 models. The 2535 is a major step upwards, in my opinion. Finally, the unit announces what side of the street your destination is on. Now, if they can only send out an update that will turn the darned thing on when you turn your ignition key! If there is any shortcoming with this unit, it is the inability to download color schemes and a few other goodies from the Tom Tom website.

Love this unit.

Edward M Pfeifer, Amazon
3 May 2011
  • Summary: I currently have a Tom Tom Go unit. It is several years old but still does the job. I purchased this unit as a second GPS, since my wife uses the other unit extensively, for her job, and I, now retired, went to Flordia, to see the shuttle launch and, wanted a GPS to get around. First, the entire package; it appears that Tom Tom is cheaping out, (like everyone else) on what they provide in the box. No AC charger, I bought one on line.

Good after updates

Aaron Lawhorne, Amazon
28 April 2011
  • Summary: 8/6/2011 I've updated my review to reflect updates to the hardware and software to improve their product. First, my GPS has not unexpectedly reset itself in months, so this model gets good marks in software stability. Tom Tom has updated the website to allow those with lifetime maps to enter their codes and begin taking advantage of map updates, so I now feel like I am getting exactly what I purchased.

Bugs still need worked out of GO 2535 World Traveler

Mark Dragone, Amazon
17 April 2011
  • Summary: I have been awaiting the arrival of this model since hearing about it. I love the large screen, and all the potential great capabilities. Yet, I have been frustrated since opening the package on Saturday. There is only one voice that reads street names, they removed the compass (very disappointing). My phone connects to the GPS, but the GPS freezes and won't connect to the phone. Tom Tom said be patient there is an update coming.

Very nice, but voice command needs to be like Garmins

Steven C. Woznicki "Icewoz", Amazon
16 April 2011
  • Summary: I like all the information that is displayed on screen, although I think it can be grouped a little bit better. I like being able to see the POI's on the screen. Magnetic mount works good, traffic avoidance was great. The unit kept me up to date on whether I was taking the best route to avoid the traffic. However, I very much disliked having to press a button to activate the voice control. The Garmin 2460LMT lets me say "Voice Command" and automatically comes on.
