Summary: This TomTom is a great upgrade from my old TomTom: => It acquires gps position extremely quickly => The hands free blue tooth telephone connection is a great addition. => The more descriptive instructions (which lane, street/route name and direction) reduces stress in complex highway interchanges. => Free map upgrades!!! => Automatically adjusts time to current time zone and goes to night or day mode as appropriate.
Summary: I owned an older model of the TomTom GO and I can see the improvements in both hardware and software over the intervening years. The voice recognition works much better. The interface is more intuitive. The route calculation is much faster. I briefly used a Garmin which I had been given as a gift and although I am reluctant to compare the two since I believe the Garmin was a cheaper, no-frills model, I still have to say I prefer the TomTom.
Summary: We had a couple challenges with this order, but the customer service team was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL and we are COMPLETELY satisfied!! We have been customers for years and I see no end in sight! Thanks SO MUCH for all your help! What a wonderful, convenient way to shop!
Summary: I purchased this model for several reasons in probably this order. Good price. Lifetime Maps, Lifetime traffic and bluetooth. I read many reviews on how easily it connected to bluetooth phones. Unfortunately it will not connect to the Samsung Galaxy III. I later found out from Tom Tom that it is not supported. I specifically wanted to do hands free on my phone for safer driving.
Summary: This unit does a good job with directions but the "voice recognition" feature is completely useless. Presumably TomTom knows the voice feature is useless, yet advertises it and adds a price premium.
Summary: My dad (whose account this is) got me this item for Christmas. Worked fine at first, then I tried to update it. Updates would download, restart, download, restart, etc etc etc. Called tech support, they put me through all these steps, then told me to try a different computer. At the risk of losing my job, I tried using my hardwired work computer with high speed internet. I called tech support from work again.
Summary: I could not review this earlier because it was a xmas gift for my son in law. He had a Garmin and wanted to update his maps and it was going to cost > $100, so my daughter suggested a new GPS. He travels on average 1 hr to work and through the Boston area, so I wanted a little something more that might help him with traffic. WHAT A WONDERFUL PRODUCT. He said it is like driving with some one else in the car to help.
