TomTom Ease

Macworld
27 February 2011
  • Excerpt: (1 items) Prices continue to tumble even as more features are added to many GPS navigation devices, and it's not difficult to find a full-featured GPS unit with a 4.3-inch screen for under $150. Yet for many consumers, especially the first-time navigation device buyer, the huge feature set found in even modestly priced devices can be a bit intimidating.
  • Pros: Sensible routes from TomTom's IQRoutes, Simplified user interface
  • Cons: 3.5-inch screen feels small

TomTom Ease

PC Magazine
16 May 2010
  • Conclusion: TomTom's budget-priced Ease isn't brimming with high-end features, but it proves that the market for standalone GPS devices isn't dead yet, even on the low end.
  • Pros: Low price for a text-to-speech device. Streamlined UI. Simple, yet flexible mount.
  • Cons: Feature-barren when compared with last-gen devices with lower prices. No lane assistance or real-time traffic. A few stray routing issues.

TomTom Ease: An Economical, Compact GPS with Text-to-speech

About.com
19 April 2010
  • Conclusion: Dedicated, in-car GPS devices are getting bigger screens (up to 5 inches-plus) and more advanced features. This is partly due to the natural evolution of technical products, but also to help differentiate them from the growing number of low-cost smartphone navigation apps. The TomTom Ease takes a different tack, making small, simple, and inexpensive its key selling points.
  • Pros: Compact, Low-priced., Easy to use., Includes text-to-speech directions.
  • Cons: Lacks TomTom's excellent route preview feature.

TomTom EASE review

GPS Tracklog
25 March 2010
  • Excerpt: The TomTom EASE is a new entry-level unit with a 3.5” screen, text-to-speech, 3 million points of interest and pre-loaded maps of the US. But what really makes the EASE attractive is the fact that it includes IQ Routes, TomTom’s historical road speed database that can make for significantly improved routing. This feature is not included in many other low-price TomTom models, so I was quite pleased to see it included on the EASE.

GPS Lodge
15 February 2010
  • Summary: With a few exceptions, I like the TomTom features and design choices making it a solid entry level GPS product that should be a strong contender for anyone considering a GPS. While it is not a widescreen unit, something I recommend moving up to if you can afford it, it does offer text to speech which is a must-have feature in my mind for making navigation in unfamiliar areas much less stressful.

TomTom Ease (U.S. version)

CNET
3 February 2010
  • Summary: The TomTom Ease succeeds in being a good low-cost GPS device for first-time navigators, and its small size and good battery life make it easy to toss into a bag and keep handy.
  • Pros: The TomTom Ease features a greatly simplified menu structure and an entry-level price, but it still manages to pack in advanced features such as text-to-speech. The device features a generous 3-hour battery life for enhanced portability.
