Summary: I bought for a Father's day gift. It's a little picky to program, but very accurate. We play with it all the time. I like that it's portable, or stationary, aVd that it charges quickly. We love it!
Summary: I'm writing this to warn others of the danger of buying a Sony GPS device since they are still available in the market place. I purchased a Sony GPS unit on a Radio Shack closeout about 20 months ago. About a month after the purchase, I realized that many of the maps were out of date. The salesperson failed to mention that Sony had orphaned the device - no map updates. As a result, I often find myself on a 4 lane divided highway that does not show on the SONY unit.
Summary: This is my third Sony NAVU I purchased. They are easy to use and cheap to buy! Sony also supplies the first updates for free! They said they felt that paying for the unit was enough and shouldn't charge for the updates to start your GPS for usage. I think that's well said!!!
Summary: This GPS is an older model and thus it is less expensive than some of the newer models. It has enough weight that if I was in a crash, it could do some damage while being thrown around the car...I wouldn't want to get hit in the face with it. It doesn't appear to have any trouble receiving a signal without an external antenna.
Summary: Ebay asked me to write a comment, but I actually bought the Sony NAV-U44 GPS not the NAV-U70, but aside from the 2-way speaker system, it's the same (u44 is cheaper on ebay but is no longer sold on sony.com). I bought this gps because I am attending more social occasions in areas throughout the city where I don't usually travel. I tend to get lost easily and I stink with directions (its acurate within 300 feet). It recalulates after missed turns very quickly.
Should have listened to the salesman and bought a Garmin

Summary: The interface is difficult and not very intuitive to use. Why SONY makes things so complicated is unknown to me. I'm taking it back to Radio Shack and exchanging for a Garmin, I will gladly pay the difference and refurbishing charge.
Do Not go For Sony name in GPS- Sony is for TV not for GPS

Summary: It is better for Sony to manufacture electronics and stay away from GPS. I am a Sony Customer but highly disappointed with Sony GPS. I could not find any special feature which would make it better than 90 bucks GPS. Interface not friendly need to go some steps to even find simple search. You need to know zip code to get the correct street/address because if you just go with city name, it will give you multiple zipcodes and then come back not finding the street.
