Gorilla NV-SD730DT

The Sanyo Gorilla NV-SD730DT was announced on April 8, 2009 and released on April 24, 2009. The NV-SD730DT follows the lead of portable navigation systems under the Gorilla series. It has been noted to have a nice and likeable design from Sanyo. This model is equipped with two angular velocity (gyro) sensors and one acceleration sensor. It is equipped with a tuner for a real-time traffic information system (VICS: vehicle information and communication system). Sanyo, in quite a while, hasn’t released a portable navigation device thus the anticipation awaiting the release of this model is being experienced by the loyal fans of the Gorilla series. The accuracy in current location estimation and the detail level of map data “were improved to the levels equivalent to those of stationary and expensive car navigation systems,” Sanyo said.

Features

Many features are on this GPS device. Included is the VICS traffic information which displays the traffic info for that particular route; a built-in 1Seg TV tuner that enables the drivers and company to view TV programmes of their choice; an LED backlight that helps to view the device at night or in the dark and probably a very important feature in many cases, the ECO mode which helps in keeping control of the vehicle’s speed. As far as memory is concerned, this portable navigation device has 8GB of SSD (Solid State Disk) storage. Its display size is of 7-inch. The two gyro sensors help to estimate the height and horizontal movement direction while the acceleration sensor helps to calculate driving distance and speed.
