Summary: This item is garbage, expensive garbage, they should stick to paper atlas' and this can be the paperweight. Since we bought this gps in December we have had to send it back three times. Each time it quits working. I have spent countless hours on the phone with rand McNally and they are no help.
Summary: I bought the Rand Mcnally RV tripmaker because my wife and were planning to RV full time in a 39' 5th wheel. Used it on acouple of dry runs to local campgrounds before starting out with the trailer. The routes it took were NOT rv friendly and would have really been a mess had I had my trailer. Also the screen is hard to see when the sun is bright. My power switch sticks and if I decide to change routes I have to turn it off and back on or reset to start over.

GPS Rand Mcnally 710... Great for 30 Days then Kaput!
18 August 2012
Summary: By the time you read this you may read a few other reviews about the Rand Mcnally 710 GPS. Lets keep this simple then, DO NOT believe the positive reviews they are just part time road travelers, these people are in the minority. Believe the negative ones, these are people that live on the road, and use it daily. The unit will work well for about 30 days, then after that you will start seeing the problems popping up on the unit.

Summary: First the good.. this GPS unit is nice and large and easy to read, bright and with nice 3D view. It's got some nice features to track your trips and includes a stylus to make it easier to enter data. That's about it for the good though. Forget using this to actually find the correct truck routes. As many other users have so eloquently stated, it often seem to purposely AVOID the best routes.
Summary: I've had a TND 710 in my big truck for about 15 months. I paid a premium price but did not get a premium product. I've sent it back to the factory twice. It locks up a couple time a week and the power cord becomes intermittent after about 3 months so I have gone through 4 or 5 power cords. Often the unit plots a screwball course to your destination. Once it plotted a course about 200 miles out of route for me.
Summary: My TND 710 worked for 2 months and then started to freeze. The connection became loose and the unit continues to malfunction regularly. Reset doesnt help anything. My garmin car unit or cell phone is what i have to use now. Not a good investment for gps units whatsoever. Amazed they even sell such a low quality product to the public with no fear of product back lash. Stay away from the company is my general opinion.
Summary: Purchased this unit myself. Work well for 2 months, then went blue screen. For the past 3 months I have been sending it back for repairs. They admit they have issue with the power port. A supervisor even admitted the upgraded this and call it a 720. If I send my unit (I payed well over $400.00 for in early 2012) AND an additional $299.00 I can get the 720. I wouldn't purchase this unit. The frustration is not worth it.
