Summary: I was the owner of two of these units, with the purchase of a replacment third. The unit was fantastic until......... Well first, The unit had real time traffic with auto-reroutes, gas prices, movie information, News headlines, etc. This was furnished by Microsoft. However, as of 2011-ish MS cancelled the service (even though I purchased a "lifetime" subscription). This was a death blow for me and many others on the AVIC411 site.
Summary: On a good day this thing barely functions. Touch-screen requires multiple touches and unit freezes constantly. One becomes very, very familiar with the reset button. I bought the 3.0 upgrade cards thinking that might improve things, but now it crashes more often and hardly anything works. I've been using computerized devices since the 1980s (I used to write about them for a large consumer catalog) and this is the worst product I've ever encountered.
Summary: Being the die-hard Pioneer fan I decided to buy Avic500bt about a year ago for my single din late model Dodge Durango. The Installation was quick and easy. This unit does everything. Built in Bluetooth, voice dialing, Ipod connection (additional cable required), Navigation. The unit did nothing but impress me the first couple of months I owned it.
Summary: BEWARE I was very happy when I bought my F series Navigation unit until it died during a Pioneer recommended upgrade. Go to AVIC411 forum and you will see hundreds of others are stuck with dead F series Nav units. Pioneer wants you to pay to have it removed, then shipped and tested on their schedule, which is backlogged by high demand. Just warning you that this may be just the beginning of the expense of an F series unit. When it works its good. When it doesn't ....
Summary: BEWARE! I have been anticipating to receive this unit, as I had a Pioneer in-dash unit in my previous vehicle. When I received the unit, it was well packaged. I followed the instructions and fully charged the unit before use. I set it up the way I was suppose to. The use was easy, but the unit did not function right. There was NO voice commands. The voice was not working.
Summary: I bought this and had it fitted professionally. The features seemed good although I don't use it to dock an i-Pod. I wish I hadn't spent the money. 1 I have found it impossible to establish a connection either directly to the PC via the USB cable or using an SD card as an interface. Therefore I am unable to migrate downloaded software/firmware files or updates to the POICon database. I have had to take the unit back to the suppliers/fitters to get files loaded.
