Conclusion: Whether you're bothered about Navpix or not, with sublime looks to match solid performance, this is one of the most user-friendly satnavs we've seen. And dead reasonable price-wise.
Pros: Bedecked in tasty black and grey, the slim, pocket-friendly S90i finally makes satnavs sexy and includes a 2-megapixel camera. Shoot a favourite restaurant (or rest stop) and it's stored along with coordinates. Fancy revisiting? Just recall the picture and tap it. Download pictures from the excellent Navpix website, which contains restaurants and places of interest. Clocking in at a couple of seconds, satellite lock-on is exceptionally quick. Navman's clearly focused ...
Cons: There's no FM transmitter, which you can just about cope with, but unbelievably the S90i is missing a pedestrian mode as well, so you can forget using it as a city guide. The addition of a camera is useful, but does seem a touch gimmicky, and arguably not of wide interest.
Excerpt: When we asked Navman to put up a satnav for our three-way test against the TomTom Go 920 T and Garmin nuvi 770, the Navman S90i was its obvious answer - all three products are the flagship models of their respective brands. And the home-grown Navman has some neat aces up its sleeve.
Summary: Navman is one of the sat-nav big players, sitting happily up with Garmin and TomTom. Happily enough, that is, unless they were able to climb a couple more branches and rule the roost. Enter the S-series, of which this S90i is the flagship. The whole user experience from packaging to design to menus has been tweaked and refined. There are three others in the range: the S30 with a 3.5in screen, then the UK map S50 and Europe map S70, both with 4.3in screens.
