Summary: The item is in a good location on the windscreen of my transit van but takes a life time to find the sats. I can literally drive 10 miles before it finds them. Once it has found them it works very well indeed. I would not recommend this item as a result of its very slow sat detection.
Summary: Not bad for the price... ...however, got it for wife over a year ago and she's recounted quite a few situations where the map/speed camera database is out of date. We couldn't get the maps to update using the software/cable provided and email support wasn't very helpful.
Summary: I have had this satnav for about 18 months now, so hope I could give a more informed opinion - Positives: 1. Bright and clear screen layout 2. Map graphics is miles better than any other satnav, especially the next turn/roundabout indicator 3. Loud and clear voice instructions 4. Fantastic windscreen holder 5. Routes are accurate most of the time.
Excerpt: I got one of these for Christmas and it's proved invaluable! I have my driving confidence back as I no longer have to be trying to look at a map while driving, or stopping to check maps as I go. The Navman isn't infallible and has made some small mistakes but mainly it's meant that journeys have been easier and on some regular trips it's found a faster alternative route.
Pros: Easy to use straight out of the box .
Cons: Cables trailing over the car to power it for longer journeys
Summary: Navman S30 3D Satellite Navigation Unit With UK & Ireland Mapping The only way I could think of to measure the accuracy of the Navman S30 unit was to set it up with a trip I was familiar with, but rather than going out in the car I put it into demo mode. I setup home, and then setup a favorite destination - both very simple. It found the postcode, but not the house of my destination - so I put in 16 rather than 15 - no big deal.
cheap ,does the job but if you use it alot then you really need a tom tom

Excerpt: i was looking at tom tom ones for 129 qiud and then this was on the shelf in a supermarket for 89 quid so i looked closer and after reading all the features were the same i went for it and to be honst i have regretted every time i use it. It takes ages to find sattelites when you switch it on and is very fiddly to fit in the cradle. It also thinks i am driving like lewis hamilton because it gives unreal driving times.
Summary: Never ever buy a Navman if you only want Britain & Ireland as updates for these areas are only available if you buy the whole of Europe so it costs the same as a new satnav to update. VERY SNEAKY !!!!!
Summary: I already had a TomTom 500 in my other car and wanted a pocket sized unit for walking in London and for use in my little run around car. It came out of the box and worked, simple to set up and quick to find the satellite. Very simple screen which can't be seen in any kind of sun light in the car and the sound level of the voiced directions is poor. It does the job and is well priced but in my opinion the TomTom is worth the extra money.
Excerpt: The Navman S30 really sets a standard amongst the Navigation system community simply becuse of its high quality 3D interface, which really looks good, much better than the one found on TomTom's. with the introduction of GPS combatible mobile devices for which navigation software can be purchased at a cheap price. Companies like Navman are being forced into cramming more and more features into their devices.
Pros: Good interface, cheap, repeated instructions, user - friendly interface
