Not good enough

Liszt, Amazon
5 August 2007
  • Summary: I was really pleased to get the Navman iCN item, but getting it to work is a real problem. The first problem, if I set off for a new address I could drive to it, about 5 miles, without it establishing a GPS link. In other words no life except it saying "testing". The second problem, it seems to have a problem working out where it is, then when it does these appeares to the brain inside the box, an intersection, which gets no response at all.

  • Excerpt: We bought the 320 as it was much cheaper than other units available so we could easily upgrade later
  • Pros: easy to program, mostly accurate, cheap purchase price, portable
  • Cons: mucks up occasionally, sometimes not enough advance notice when turn is required

  • Excerpt: my navman icn 320 was not bad when you could get a signal.once you got a signal it was pretty good didnt loose signal much at all. it was a basic model that did the job.it was a bit pricey but hey i could have waited for a few months for it to go down maybe. it did give you alternate routes.which did come in handy .
  • Pros: good basic model
  • Cons: slow to pick up saterlites

  • Excerpt: hi i got a navman icn320 for christmas 2005, so its now 6 months , ive had one. the first one i got worked for 2 months then the internal rechargable battery died. so i returned it to comet, and they gave me a new one. not a good start realy. but i must say this one is still going strong. but the main draw back is its map, its years out of date. i live in ayrshire , so my main route in to glagow is the m77. which is about 4 years old now, since they closed the a77.
  • Pros: very easy to use
  • Cons: maps out of date

Good, Bad and Indifferent

  • Excerpt: ~ ~ I've been contemplating buying an in-car satellite navigation system for ages, but to be honest the main thing stopping me was the very high initial cost of the purchase. They all seemed to be priced somewhere in the €350 to €600 plus bracket, and I found it very hard to justify this fairly large outlay for a system that I would only probably use a few times a week.
  • Pros: Good entry - level Sat Nav system .  Good price .
  • Cons: Has its limitations .

Navman 320 - A Good Buy

  • Excerpt: Navman have got it right in so many ways. There are a few grumbles I have but overall they have done very well. Are you looking to get the best Sat Nav system on the market with all the bells and whistles on it? No. Neither was I. To be honest what I needed was a basic system to tell me to turn at the correct point to ensure that I did not spend time getting lost and swearing loudly at anything and everyone.
  • Pros: Does the job on a budget
  • Cons: Battery life

Don't Go Round The Houses Ever Again.

  • Excerpt: I'm a skinflint when it comes to gadgets, as well as a skinflint I'm also not technically minded and have no interest in the latest gadgets which claim to change your life. However, I was sufficiently interested in an in-car navigation system to get me from A to B in the quickest time possible. After a quick search I decided upon the cheapest one I could find from Halford's online at £168.97.
  • Pros: Affordable, stylish and simple to use .
  • Cons: None as yet .
