Summary: I purchased this item in June 2009 and have used it for about 3 months. The unit does a very good job (clean, easy to view graphics, good sound, lots of helpful prompts, many custom settings) when it works; work being the operative word. It has a tendacy to not want to turn on, or to rapidly turn itself off once on (this can be a frustrating game after awhile).
Summary: I bought my Navigon GPS (7200T) because it had the most features for the lowest price. That still holds true. Very nice unit- attractive and works well, too. Recently, I wanted to update the maps, but there was no Freshmaps Activation card in the box from Amazon. You need the code on that card to get updates. So, I emailed Navigon support for assistance. They sent the following: 'Thank you for your inquiry.
Summary: The Navigon 8100T looks and appears to be a good product but it is lacking in two essential features. 1. The mount they provided is very inflexible. There were only a few places to use it in my vehicle. They did offer a custom mount for your particular vehicle but they wanted an additional $35 for the mount. If you have two vehicles that's an additional $70. 2. I was not able to type in POI. All they offer are the standard restaurants, hotels and gas stations.
Slow, constant resets, FreshMaps doesn't work, no documentation

Summary: I returned the 8100T after a weeks worth of frustration. I travel a lot, and spend a lot of time in strange cities. I use my GPS a minimum of an hour a day, so I don't mind spending more money for it (try getting lost at night in NYC!). My old GPS was too slow and lacked a lot of features, so I decided to try the 8100T, assuming the top of the line would be the fastest. 1. Slow.
Summary: I got NAVIGON 8100 as New Year present in December 2008. I've used it for four weeks after which I ended up returning this unit to seller (AMAZON). My first impression was that GPS is great. It has nice body, decent screen size, good speaker, very neat mount, beautiful and easy to navigate interface on the very sharp touch screen.
Summary: GOT THIS 8100 UNIT FOR XMAS. IN THE 2D MODE, IT WON'T ACCEPT A COURSE-UP INSTRUCTION; THE CAR ICON MOVES ON THE SCREEN AND AND WHEN THE CAR ICON DRIVES OFF THE SCREEN, IT DOESN'T RECYCLE TO PUT THE ICON BACK ON THE SCREEN IN THE THEN CURRENT POSITION. IN THE NAVIGATION MODE, SEVERAL MILES OF THE PA. TPKE. DISSAPPEARED FROM THE SCREEN, AND TWO INTERSTATE BRIDGES BETWEEN N.J. AND PA. ALSO DISAPPEARED.
Summary: I had this product for a little over two weeks and during that time I had to do a soft reset 4 times. The first time the bluetooth stopped communicating with my cell phone. The second time I had to reset it to get satellite acquisition. The third time was to get the speaker to work. The straw that broke the camel's back was when it started speaking in German even though it was set to English. A soft reset was needed again. I gave up and returned it today.
Summary: I will say that I was taken in by all the hype surrounding this device. Along with everyone else, I lost all sensibility when looking at the gorgeous display with it's rolling hills. But now I have it and reality sunk in.
Pros: Mounted well, the HUGE mounting arm actually worked very well for me.
The screen is large and easy to read, map icons are easy to use.
Fast signal acquisition. Fast route calculations.
