Great GPS, Small Price

spearmints69, Ebay
5 April 2010
  • Summary: it is a great value for $65. the screen is a little small (which is good and bad. good: doesn't block too much of the windshield; bad: not always easy to see). great features, but not exactly user friendly (make sure you have all destination set before you start driving). it's perfect... if you have a co-pilot.

Great Buy

Overstock

  • Summary: I did about 8 months of research, and knew I wanted the Navigon 5100. I got it from my wife for Christmas. The two major knocks I read about this unit was that it was hard to hear it and the satellite reading was slow. I can tell you one thing, I have no issues with either one of those. I have had a few things that I've had to get adjusted to this one with, but nothing major.

5100 Max..Best value

Overstock
5 January 2010
  • Summary: At this site the Navigon 5100 MAX is a great value. Take into account LIFETIME TRAFFIC UPDATES and TWO years of FREE map updates. Unit is shipped with Q3-2008 map installed. Q3-2009 is available but its a hassle to download since the Navigon uses SD-133 technology and CANNOT use SDHC cards. The newest map requires a 4gb SD card and I can only find one that works from Trancend(Model TS4GSD133) They run just under 20 bucks.

Almost Perfect Purchase

Overstock
4 January 2010
  • Summary: I bought this product as a gift and was, at first, a bit dissapointed with the structure of the box. It appeared that the product had been thrown in, and the miscellaneous items as well. The box was torn and I had to reconstruct it to make it appear as if this were something I had done to check the quality before wrapping the gift. That aside, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Everything works fine, as I was hesitant because I bought a refurbished item.

Great GPS for a great price

mbazzoni, Ebay
1 December 2009
  • Summary: Navigon stopped selling and supporting all GPS units in the United States. They decided to go with an iPhone only app. I have enough going on with my iPhone, so I wanted a GPS unit that was small and easy to use and included traffic. For the price the Navigon 5100 GPS with 4.3" widescreen display that includes Free lifetime traffic was a perfect fit. The impressive thing to me was how well the traffic works.

Good GPS for the $

johananton, Ebay
9 November 2009
  • Summary: I bought this particular GPS because of the price. I only need one occasionally, I didn't want to spend a lot for a unit I use once a month and it had the features I wanted, mostly text to voice and touch screen, plus it has traffic reports, all for about $100. The good is the maps seem accurate, it doesn't take that long to acquire the satellites and calculates routes quickly.

Almost a great GPS

ca_music_guy, Ebay
6 May 2009
  • Summary: 2 things keep this from being a great buy and great GPS: 1 is the lack of enough sound volume. At anything more than idling at a stop there will be too much road noise to hear this unit when mounted on the windshield. 2 is the long time to cycle up if the unit has been unplugged for more than a few minutes. Besides these items the graphics are first rate among current units. The features like text-to-speech, lane assistance, and traffic advisory all work.

Excellent for the price.

Harmless Gryphon, Amazon
3 May 2009
  • Summary: Edit May 2010: The maps in my 5100 are becoming rather long in the tooth, and it's starting to approach worthless. There are numerous roads and changes in the area I drive (IL/IN/OH/PA/WV/KY) that are not marked on the maps, and areas where the roads are undergoing wholesale changes (PA is renumbering exits on interstates) are contributing to this device rapidly approaching repurposing. While it was a good unit for the time, stay away from it now.
