"For the Money, expended", a Decent Beginner GPS unit
5 September 2012
Summary: The Motonav TN20 is my first GPS, purchased for a recently completed NYC to Seattle & back, cross-country vacation. The "Motonav Car Charger Power cord" supplied, was "Absolute Garbage!!!", the dried out cord breaking every time that it was touched during the very first hours of use... Luckily I had a Motorola Phone car charger w/me that worked, but comes up with a message, when used, about extended battery charging time, but worked fine, to power and charge the TN20.
Summary: we have onley used this one a few times.it is very good for the price.we also have a magelian, that i am more used to,but it was alot more money.i hope to use the motonav more now that its in my wifes jeep.great price!
Summary: I bought this a few weeks ago in anticipation of a few trips this summer to places I've never been. I "tested" it on a short trip right after getting it, to a place I go quite often. I found it picked up the satelites very quickly, and never lost reception. It is easy to use right out of the box. I didn't look at the instructions until after I used it. Screen visibility is excellent. I personally prefer the 2D mode over the 3D.
Summary: ...if users want an inexpensive GPS, they should understand purchase of this model means they will have no Motorola product support for it, that is, in terms of map updates, etc. ...with this "as is," users will have a GPS that might be cost-effective, tho the (many) included locations are for mapped locations only thru sometime in 2005.
Summary: good product for price, works well. Good pricing for product similar to tom tom. Have not used this alot but it has worked well for me the few times it was used. Would recommend this to other people in the market for a first time GPS system.
Summary: This is a good basic GPS and better than many other's in it's price range. I liked how it gets a quick fix on satilites. What I don't like is the lack of brightness controls for night time viewing and how slow or non existing the auto day/night switch is. You have to sometimes click off/on the auto dimming control to get the TN20 to switch from day to night or vise versa.
Summary: PROS I bought this at Radio Shack on CLEARANCE! I took it outside and almost immediately it was oriented and ready to go. It is smaller, and faster than my old GPS and the update was easy to install using an XD card in the slot on the side. Its voice is easy to understand and the display is "just big enough".
Summary: Got this nice little GPS on sale for $79 and with my gift card, only paid $59. What a bargain! I've had it out on the road once, and it works very well. It re-calculates your route in a matter of seconds if you miss your turn. Text to speech is very easy to hear and understand. The unit also lets you know which side of the street your destination is located on, once you arrive. The only drawback that I can see, is the small database of POI.
