I think the Triton is a better unit than the Garmin oregon450t

Summary: I have had the Triton 2000 for over 6 years. When I first purchased the unit, the satellite lock-in was not adequate. It would not track through any kind of cover. But Magellan came out with a software upgrade which resolved the tracking issues. I recently got my wife a top-end Garmin handheld GPS (oregon 450t), (we both do geocaching). I think the Triton is a better unit than the Garmin.
Summary: Great product! Although I have other GPS, when hiking, this is the one. I have used it for street navigation but think that there are better GPS out there for this function. If I am traveling and planning on doing any hiking, this is a one of a kind performer and can do all the tasks necessary.
I upgraded from my Triton 500 to this unit. This is…

Excerpt: I upgraded from my Triton 500 to this unit. This is an amazing unit. Very fast acquisition time. The built-in digital camera was my main reason for upgrading to this unit. I found that having a waterproof camera while out quadding in the mountains was very desirable. I did not want to use my delicate camera phone or digital camera out in this terrain and have them covered all in mud and water.
Summary: I like all of the features of the Magellan Triton 2000, however, I also own a Magellan Triton 500 GPS and I think I personally prefer the 500 over the 2000 because of the compact size of the 500. The 500 has the same basic GPS functions of the 2000. The 2000 has a camera for still pics and video, a voice recorder, an mp3 player which is neat, a 2.7" touch screen, a bulit in flashlight, external antenna plug. Maps are the same on both. The 500 has a 2.2" non touch screen.
